Notice of Capital Credits Assignment

Central Georgia EMC announces that the capital credits assignment for 2023 is 6.93%. In an electric membership cooperative structure like CGEMC, each dollar paid in excess of the cost of providing service is an investment in CGEMC by its customer-owners.

At the end of the year, and after all expenses are paid, any remaining funds are assigned to customer-owners' accounts. CGEMC's margins are used as capital until they can be returned through a general refund without impairing the cooperative’s financial condition.

Your capital credits assignment is calculated by multiplying your total electric bill for the year, minus the sales tax and any miscellaneous charges, times 6.93%.

For example:

  • If your annual bill totaled $500 x .0693, then your assignment is $34.65
  • If your annual bill totaled $1,000 x .0693, then your assignment is $69.30
  • If your annual bill totaled $1,500 x .0693, then your assignment is $103.95
  • If your annual bill totaled $2,000 x .0693, then your assignment is $138.60

Note: Assignments do not include Central Georgia EMC large power accounts.

CGEMC Enhances Payment Security

To better protect your financial information and meet increasing regulations from the credit card industry, Central Georgia EMC will discontinue payment processing by customer service representatives over the phone, effective August 15, 2024.

CGEMC members can still make phone payments through the interactive voice response system, utilizing option 2, when calling 770-775-7857.

We encourage you to take advantage of our secure and convenient payment options, including our online portal, mobile app, onsite payment kiosk, and authorized payment locations. For a full list of locations and payment options, please visit our website at www.cgemc.com.

CGEMC appreciates your understanding and cooperation as we strive to maintain the highest data protection standards.

2024 Residential Rebates

Is it time for an upgrade? Save energy and money with CGEMC's 2024 rebates!

Nearly half of energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling. Upgrading an outdated or aging system can save you money. If your unit is more than 10 years old and needs frequent repairs, it may be time to replace it.

Water heaters use more energy than your refrigerator, clothes washer, dishwasher, and dryer combined. Upgrading your water heater can save you hundreds of dollars yearly on energy costs. Visit www.cgemc.com for details.

*A load management switch must be installed on qualifying equipment by a Central Georgia EMC employee before the rebate can be processed. The load management switch must remain on equipment and in operating status as long as Central Georgia EMC has a load management program. Limit one (1) qualifying heat pump and/or one (1) qualifying water heater rebate per member/household. Heat pump and/or water heater must have been installed on or after January 1, 2024.

CGEMC EARNS AN ACSI® 2023 CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AWARD!

CGEMC is honored to have earned a 2023 Customer Satisfaction Award* from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI®) based on our member survey results. Members were asked to rate their overall satisfaction with us, how well we lived up to their expectations, and how well we measured up to their ideal co-op experience. While these were not the only questions in the survey, we included these specifically because they are the core components of the proprietary ACSI methodology.

CGEMC's ACSI score substantially outperforms the industry average score earned by publicly measured utilities reported in the 2023 ACSI Energy Utility Study. This Award is a testament to CGEMC's ongoing efforts to provide the best possible member experience.

The 2023 Customer Satisfaction Award affirms that CGEMC's hard work has been noticed by its members. CGEMC is grateful for its members and will continue to strive for excellence through constant dedication to improvement.

*Award criteria are determined by the ACSI® and are based on customers rating their satisfaction in a survey independent of the syndicated ACSI Energy Utility Study. For more about the ACSI, visit www.theacsi.org/badges. ACSI and its logo are registered trademarks of the American Customer Satisfaction Index LLC.

Tax Credits to Improve Your Doors and Windows

Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, you can now get a tax credit for installing energy-efficient exterior doors, windows, and skylights. The maximum credit you can claim each year is $ 200 for energy property costs and specific energy-efficient home improvements, with limits on doors ($250 per door and $500 total), windows ($600), and home energy audits ($150). All exterior doors and windows must be ENERGY STAR-certified.

This credit has no lifetime dollar limit, so you can claim the maximum annual credit every year that you make eligible improvements. However, you must claim the credit for the tax year when the property is installed.
