"I have no regrets about my choice"

Kiwoom Heroes outfielder Park Chan-hyuk (21) applied for the position of managing director. Park Chan-hyuk was on the list of successful applicants announced by the Military Manpower Administration along with Han Dong-hee (Lotte), Lee Jae-won (LG), and Kim Jae-woong (Kium). They will take a physical measurement on the 20th. If they finally pass, they will join the military in June.

Kiwoom Park Chan-hyuk, who visited Incheon International Airport on the 11th to leave for a training camp in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, told reporters, "I wanted to go (to the military) as soon as possible when I was young. Can't you play baseball even when you go to Sangmu? There is no guarantee that you will get accepted yet, but I want to go and make sure that you are mine while you are there."

"I heard Sangmu has good sports facilities," said Park Chan-hyuk, who laughed, "I saw that LG Lee Jae-won and Lotte Han Dong-hee also applied for the management, and I want to go in together and learn a lot and create synergy."

Park Chan-hyuk emphasized, "Some say I will go to the military quickly, and others say I will go on time. I am sure that I will do better after going to Sangmu when I am young. So I have no regrets about my choice."

It is also expected that he will have to return to Korea from Taiwan to pass the final physical examination of Sangmu. "I will return to Korea for a while because I have to take the physical examination of Sangmu on the 20th. And I will return to Taiwan with (Kim) Jae-woong, a Kiwoom pitcher who applied for Sangmu together," Park said. "I have to stick to it. I have to stick to it," Park Chan-hyuk said, renewing his commitment.

Park Chan-hyuk, who is just 21 years old, is a rising star in the second round of Kiwoom in 2022. He hit six home runs from the beginning of the season in his debut season, drawing attention as a rising star, but he only had one home run in the 2023 season with a batting average of 0.201 (31 hits in 154 times at bat). He also played in only 48 games in the first division.

Still, he said he is certain about something more than last year," heralding a rebound in the 2024 season. "As for my coach's assessment and myself, I feel that I have a more stable stance on how to hit compared to last year," Park said. "I put a lot of effort into weight training, but I definitely feel lighter. I'm not following bad balls, but I'm swinging while keeping my balance."

Park Chan-hyuk smiled, saying, "If I get into Sangmu, I want to do everything I want to do before I go, and I want to instill a good image."스포츠토토
