Aboriginal Education Team
Our Aboriginal Education Team’s AGM gathered 15 students, AECG President Sonia Sharpe, and Miss Lennard for vibrant discussions and an executive officer election, focused on celebrating culture and community. Congratulations to our newly elected leaders: Abel as President, Alex as Vice President, Kirkton as Secretary, and Harrison V. as Environmental Officer. Together, they set the stage for a brighter, inclusive future.
Children’s University Information Session
We extend a sincere thank you to all Year 3-6 parents and students who attended our recent Children’s University Program information session. We are delighted to launch this exciting initiative for its second consecutive year, offering students enriching learning experiences beyond the classroom walls. During the session, valuable insights were shared about the program’s benefits, how it supports student growth, and how it will inspire their ongoing learning journeys. We look forward to providing students with their Learning Passports from the University of Newcastle when they arrive, marking the beginning of this fantastic opportunity. As students embark on this adventure, we are excited to watch them develop as independent, lifelong learners. If you have any questions or would like further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out or speak with us directly. We are enthusiastic about the journey ahead!
Primary Debating Workshop
Stage 3 students have an exciting opportunity to participate in a debating workshop alongside peers from numerous primary schools. This enriching event will be held on Tuesday, 24th March, at Maitland East Public School. During the day, students will engage in a variety of activities designed to build their debating skills, including learning about rebuttal techniques, crafting arguments, understanding speaker roles, and enjoying fun, interactive games. For more detailed information about the day, please refer to the School Bytes notes sent home.
Swimming Carnivals Success
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all students and parents who attended our small school swimming carnival held in Week 5. It was a wonderful day filled with enthusiasm and team spirit—truly enjoyed by all! We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of four of our students—Harry L, Nash S, Eleanor V, and Clay S—who qualified to represent Mulbring at the Zone Swimming Carnival. Each competitor demonstrated exceptional skill and determination across a variety of events and contributed strongly to the mixed relay team’s success. A special congratulations goes to Clay S, who has advanced from the Zone Carnival to qualify for the prestigious Hunter Carnival at the University of Newcastle. We wish Clay the very best of luck as he competes at this next level of competition. These accomplishments highlight the talent and dedication within our school community, and we look forward to more exciting sporting opportunities in the future.
Parent / Teacher Planning Meetings
We are very pleased with the success of our recent parent-teacher meetings. Our teachers valued the opportunity to connect with parents and carers, gaining valuable insights into students’ needs, strengths, and aspirations. These conversations have strengthened our partnership, and we look forward to continuing to work together to support each student’s learning journey. We will soon be sending a short survey via Schoolbytes and would be grateful if you could take a moment to complete it, as your feedback is important to us.
Toys and Personal Belongings
At Mulbring Public School, we’ve noticed some students bringing toys and personal belongings to school. While we understand the appeal, these items can be lost, damaged, or cause distractions in class—and may even lead to arguments in the playground. To maintain a safe, focused, and harmonious learning environment, our preference is that toys and personal belongings stay at home. We appreciate your support in helping us minimise these risks for all students.
NSWPSSA Cricket – Round 1
Congratulations to our school cricket team for an exciting and competitive match at the Mulbring Cricket Ground (MCG) during Week 6. In tough conditions with the heat and against strong opposition all players with a range of cricket experience showcased impressive talent, exemplary fair play, and strong community spirit throughout the game. All the support from our local community was greatly appreciated and truly contributed to the positive atmosphere and success of the day.
Representative Sport Highlights
Week 6 was an exciting period for representative sport, with numerous students participating in the PSSA Cessnock Zone Trials. Congratulations to Eleanor V, who showcased her versatility by competing in Soccer, Netball, Touch Football, and Basketball trials. Well done also to Addison I and Mia W for their efforts in the Basketball trials. Best of luck to Kirkton K, Eleanor V and Addison I who are representing our school this week at the Rugby League Trials. We eagerly await the results to see if any students will advance to the Hunter Trials and have the opportunity to compete at the next level.
Stay Connected with Cessnock Zone PSSA on Facebook!
We’d like to remind everyone that the Cessnock Zone PSSA Facebook page is an excellent resource for the latest updates on carnivals, trials, and events. It’s also a wonderful platform to celebrate our students’ achievements, featuring photos and highlights from PSSA competitions. If you haven’t already, be sure to visit and follow the page to stay informed and connected as we continue to support and cheer on our talented athletes!
Sporting Schools Program
This term, thanks to our Sporting Schools funding, we are thrilled to offer five dedicated athletics sessions as part of our sports program. Each class has already enjoyed their first two sessions with a specialised coach, focusing on developing essential skills in running, jumping, and throwing. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to stay active, learn from an expert, and build confidence and ability as they prepare for our upcoming School Athletics Carnival in Term 2. We are excited to see their progress and enthusiasm grow throughout the program!
P&C News
We congratulate the large gathering of parents and grandparents who attended our first P&C meeting of 2026. At the AGM, positions were hotly contested, with the final results as follows: Kelly Latter as President, Allana Everingham as Vice President, Kristy Warner as Secretary, and Dane Pickering as Treasurer. We warmly congratulate our new executive team and look forward to sharing the many benefits the P&C brings to our school community.
