Introducing HEMISPHERE One & Two

Boasting the central position on Paddington Village, HEMISPHERE will be a pair of new 8-storey buildings offering a net total 216,861 sq ft laboratory and workspace.

HEMISPHERE One and HEMISPHERE Two will provide a bespoke home for cutting-edge commercial and academic laboratories, where the world’s sharpest minds can harness the potential power of their ideas. Across the combined site, occupiers will have access to a unique combination of chemistry labs, data labs, bio labs and innovation labs, alongside incubator and grow-on space.

Meeting the lab demand in KQ Liverpool

Demand for lab space within the Knowledge Quarter Liverpool (KQ Liverpool) innovation district has grown consistently in recent years and the inception of the Liverpool City Region Life Sciences Innovation Zone has created an even greater impetus for change.

With existing commercial laboratories at Liverpool Science Park continuing to operate at full capacity, there is a clear and significant requirement for new, high-quality laboratory space. Sciontec's solution is a pair of purpose-built developments, connected at ground level in Paddington Village, Liverpool City Council’s flagship development site.

HEMISPHERE will offer 183,183 sq ft of laboratory space across two phases.

It will house LCR Innovation Zone projects and provide capacity for KQ Liverpool's existing lab occupiers who want to scale.

The space will compromise incubator, grow-on and mature lab space, with complementary write-up, office and meeting spaces throughout. Occupants will benefit from an open access lab and community break-out areas.

A closer look at HEMISPHERE One

The ground floor double height foyer will lead to a host station, central core, back of house facilities, café, dining space and a fully equipped wellness studio, in addition to an Innovation Lab, building on the success of our facility at Liverpool Science Park.

The flexible workspace floors can accommodate around 160 people, but can be subdivided into two, three or even four individual suites to suit your needs. What’s more, we will provide you with a CAT-A finish so the space will be ready and waiting for you to put your stamp on it.

The upper floors of HEMISPHERE One are designed to accommodate cutting-edge biology and chemistry laboratories, complete with wash up and write up facilities, adjoining collaboration space and a digital computer lab.

A closer look at HEMISPHERE Two

HEMISPHERE Two will, subject to planning consent, consist of write-up, incubator, grow on and commercial lab space, alongside some of the world's most advanced chemistry labs.

On the ground floor, Visible from Paddington Square and internally via a glass fronted viewing platform, will be an iconic double-height lab. It will be designed from scratch to deliver a hybrid lab environment that seamlessly integrates manual lab work, bench-top automated kit, large standalone robotic platforms and autonomous mobile lab robots driven by AI.

HEMISPHERE One and Two are designed with a focus upon sustainability and wellbeing, with several environmental design features integrated to maximise their sustainability. It is intended to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’ and a WiredScore Certification.

Paddington Village

HEMISPHERE One and Two will sit at the heart of Paddington Village - Liverpool City Council’s flagship development site - which has Science, Technology, Education and Health within its DNA.

With places to work, live, stay, eat and socialise, Paddington Village is also within walking distance of Liverpool’s two main train stations, and internationally renowned institutions including the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

LCR Innovation Zone

The Liverpool City Region Life Sciences Innovation Zone, part of the UK Government's Investment Zone programme, is backed by £160m over the next 10 years, with 21 projects set to be initially funded.

KQ Liverpool will be the engine room for the delivery of 13 of the 21 projects, based within the innovation district, including HEMISPHERE One and Two.

Unlocking Growth in KQ Liverpool

The Paddington Village development was enabled with the help of a £12m Liverpool City Region Combined Authority grant to pay for infrastructure work, including demolition and bringing services to the site.

HEMISPHERE One is set to also receive up to £13m from the UK Government as a result of the Liverpool Strategic Futures Panel and HEMISPHERE One and Two will receive a £1.5m and £10m allocation respectively from the Liverpool City Region Life Sciences Innovation Zone, part of the Government's Investment Zone programme.
