Softball Places 10th in SSC Preseason Poll
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team was selected to finish 10th in the 2024 Sunshine State Conference preseason poll.
The Tritons received 22 points following a 21-26 record last season and 6-24 in SSC action. Eckerd continued to rise in the 2023 campaign, with the fourth most wins in a season in program history. Eckerd produced a 13-game win streak during the season. Eckerd also posted 89 stolen bases, the most in a season since at least 1998.
Eckerd returns first team all-conference performer and the career record holder for walks in Lauren Margolis, who hit .339. She also returns Ella Coiner who batted .376 in her rookie campaign.
Eckerd kicks off its season on February 2 for their home opener against Carson-Newman at 12:00 PM (DH).

Last season, Margolis started all 47 games. She set the single season walks record, drawing 39 walks on the season while setting the program career walks record, sitting at 84 walks drawn, ranking fourth in the nation in walks per game. Margolis slashed .339/.506/.517. She racked up a career-high 40 hits, 37 runs, 27 RBI, and seven doubles. Margolis added four homeruns, ranking 35th in the nation in on-base percentage and was named first team All-SSC.
