the anxiety project

"Routinely giving your child a 'get-out-of-jail-card' and protecting them from all this distress is a sub-optimal solution and it can backfire when they do eventually have to face adversity. That said, there is much parents can do to resolve problems that arise from time to time, without prematurely stepping in or indeed failing to step in when you should."

Extract from The Anxiety Project Parentshop by Michael Hawton.

4-6 Art

The Years 4-6 class have started making their cane baskets for visual art this term. The students learnt how wet and dry cane changes. All students mastered establishing their warp rows ready to weave. The baskets will grow quickly from here and each student will be able to add unique embellishments.

2-3 Creative Arts - Performing ARts (Drama)

In 2-3 Creative Arts, we will be learning about elements of drama. We will learn about role, character, voice, movement, etc. Students are expected to not only have fun, but also to understand character development and express it through improvisational practice. This should help students develop confidence in expressing themselves to convey meaning.

K-1 Sport

In K-1 Health and Physical Education class, we will be focusing on developing gross motor skills. Through continuous practice, students should improve their coordination, balance and spatial awareness.

K-1 Maths

In K-1 Maths, we have been learning about ordinal numbers. These numbers are used in everyday situations to represent order, rank or position of something. Learning about ordinal numbers should help us during reading, when we find numerals such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. We went on a number scavenger hunts in the classroom, looking for ordinal numbers as numerals and ordinal numbers as words. We also organised objects according to their position in a rank of colours.

Senior maths

Did you know that 1 mL is equivalent to 1 cubic centimetre and 1L of pure water weighs 1kg? The senior students have been learning about the relationships between the formal units of measurement for volume, capacity and mass in a practical way.
