This week in Year 1, we’ve been busy being scientists as we explored more of our materials topic as well as our Science Week theme: Adapt and Change!
🌊 Monday – We became floating and sinking experts by testing materials to see if they would float or sink. There were some surprising results!
🔎 Tuesday – We continued our materials topic by investigating whether different materials were transparent, translucent, or opaque.
🍪 Wednesday – Science Week Experiment Day! We had an exciting challenge: designing a new house for the witch from Hansel and Gretel. To make sure it could withstand the rain, we tested different biscuits to see how strong they were when dunked in water. We made predictions, carefully observed the changes, and recorded our findings. Some of us were brave enough to try a soggy biscuit – ew!
