The WU's Lunar New Year Celebration 2024 The year of the dragon

Let's celebrate the Lunar New Year at the Memorial Union (across the corner store area) on Friday, 2/9, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. This year the Lunar New Year falls on Saturday, Feb 10.

Each culture has its own name for the New Year, customs, traditions and beliefs. For instance, Lunar New Year in South Korea is called Seol-lal. Seollal is the biggest national holiday in Korea. It is a family gathering day and then people observe the ritual of ancestor worship (memorial services), pay respects to their elders, and exchange well-wishing remarks.

The Department of Sociology & Anthropology (SOAN300 K-Pop & Beyond and SO319 Food & Culture students) will have the table with Korean snacks and traditional games.

Do you know which animal you are on the Asian Zodiac? What does it mean by being born in a certain animal? How do people use the Asian Animal Zodiac? Would you like to play traditional games? and Would you like to know what games will be on Squid Game 2?
