Council Meeting

The next City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the Civic Center Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube at ConnectwithTC.

Youth Committee

National Night Out

Join the Temple City Public Safety team and the Temple Sheriff's Station as they come together to host National Night Out on Wednesday, August 6th, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Temple City Park, 9701 Las Tunas Drive! This will be a free event aiming to build neighborhood camaraderie between police and the community.

Concerts in the Park

Summer Concerts in the Park are back! The ten-week concert series runs from June through August at Temple City Park, 9701 Las Tunas Dr., every week from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m on Wednesdays. Join us as we celebrate the sounds of the summer!

Concert Lineup:

  • August 6 – Stone Soul (Motown/Soul) and National Night Out starting at 6:00 p.m.
  • August 13 – Kelly Boyz Band (Country)

Compost Giveaway Event

Athens Services and the City of Temple City are teaming up to offer residents a free compost giveaway on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Live Oak Park, 10147 Daines Dr. (Daines Dr. Parking Lot).

Important Guidelines:

  • Temple City residents only (ID or utility bill required)
  • Bring your own shovel, dolly, and sturdy containers (self-service event)
  • No plastic bags allowed
  • 30-gallon limit during the first hour (available while supplies last)
  • Maximum container size: 32 gallons
  • Drive-up only (no walk-ups permitted)
  • Gloves and eye protection recommended

Leadership, Education and Development (LEAD) Program

The Temple City LEAD Program is recruiting new members for the 2025-26 school year. Join today and discover new opportunities for students to earn volunteer hours, develop leadership skills, and learn about educational and future career opportunities. The LEAD program facilitates opportunities for middle school and high school students ages 12–17 years old to earn volunteer service-learning hours, develop confidence in leadership skills through a mentorship program, and learn about educational and future career opportunities. In addition to accruing community service hours needed for school, participants will develop a variety of leadership skills aimed at creating positive impacts in the Temple City community.

Youth Volleyball League

It’s Volleyball time! The co-ed volleyball league will provide girls and boys in grades 5th-8th an opportunity to learn a variety of skills and compete in games and playoffs in a fun environment. Led by recreation staff, this program is designed to introduce players of all levels to the sport of volleyball. Players will experience working as a team, practicing discipline, building the proper fundamentals of the sport, and competing in games and playoffs. Some players will also be selected to participate in an all-star team that will compete in the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF) Volleyball tournament in November. The first week of the program will consist of general training and evaluation, followed by coaches drafting players into specific teams. Fee includes a team jersey and a trophy/medal.

Sports Blitz

Sports time = a fun time! Explore an exciting variety of sports in this engaging program led by Recreation staff. This 8-week program, held on Mondays & Wednesdays from September 8 to October 29, is designed for children ages 3.5 - 5 and 6–7. Participants will explore the fundamentals of basketball, soccer, and flag football, while building skills and learning the values of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Community Development Department Monthly Summary – June 2025

The Community Development Department has released its monthly update for June 2025. Below is a summary of the major highlights:

Building Activity

In June 2025, the City issued 184 permits with a total valuation of $3.83 million, marking a 26% increase compared to June 2024 ($3.05 million). Year-to-date valuation reached $21.73 million, up 17% from $18.61 million during the same period last year. Fees collected in June totaled $187,392, slightly below June 2024’s $212,720. However, year-to-date fees rose to $1.16 million—a slight increase over 2024. Notable permits issued in June included two 2-unit multi-family projects at 4450 Temple City Boulevard and several accessory dwelling units (ADUs).

Planning

The Planning Division received numerous zoning clearance applications, most of which were for new ADUs. Minor site plan reviews were submitted for new houses with ADUs at 9047 Olive Street and 6006 Oak Avenue, as well as a house addition with ADU at 9025 Hermosa Drive. A major site plan review was submitted for a new 2-unit multi-family development at 5820 Primrose Avenue.

Business Licensing

No new business licenses were issued in June.

Community Preservation

The City opened 151 new community preservation cases in June, up from 135 in June 2024. Of these, 65% were initiated by inspectors, 28% by the public, and 7% by other staff. A total of 153 cases were closed during the month, compared to 131 in June 2024. Year-to-date figures show 881 cases opened and 858 closed.
