Welcome to the world Monty Jake Reed

National Nursery Rhyme Week

Transition have had a brilliant week celebrating National Nursery Rhyme Week. Our week has been full of singing, crafting, baking and ended with a wonderful dressing up day on Thursday. Nursery rhymes are a daily activity in Transition, and these are so important for language acquisition and help with speech development. They also help children develop auditory skills such as discriminating between sounds and developing the ear for the sounds of words.

A secret mission for Prep 1

The children also had a bit of a secret mission this week that involved them learning how to write an invitation, address a letter and indeed post a letter in the post box! Look out for something arriving in the post… This trip into Hatherop Village was also an opportunity for a scavenger hunt, with children spotting features of the locality and identifying different materials by taking rubbings. It was great fun and sparked lots of interesting discussion too.

All Aboard!

Prep 2 had such a treat in their English lessons this week! Following the introduction of our new story, ‘The Polar Express’, we excitedly boarded the Polar Express presenting our tickets for inspection to the conductor, Mrs King! During our trip, Prep 2 were treated to a delicious cup of hot chocolate amongst listening to the sounds of the ‘train’ and listening to the songs from the film.

Prep 8 have been thinking about their futures

This week, Prep 8 spent some time planning and thinking about their next steps after Prep 8 with the help of Chris Homer. They thought about what they would do once finishing school and any aspirations they have for future jobs. Huge thanks to Mr Homer for giving up his time to come and talk to them all.
