India's Total Gaming Revenue Hits $34.6 bln

National Indian Gaming Commission President E. Sequoyah Simmereyer and Vice President Kathryn Isom-Clause announced total gaming revenue for the 2019 financial year (FY19) for the Indian gaming industry. FY19 revenue totaled $34.6 billion, up 2.5% from 2018.

2019 marks the highest revenue report ever for the Indian gaming industry, 32 years after federal Indian gaming regulations laws were enacted. For your information, nearly all NGC regions experienced growth during FY19. The Oklahoma City area showed the largest increase at 7.7%. Additional information and a summary of total gaming revenue according to NGC's administratively determined regions can be found on NGC's website.

"A healthy tribal economy is critical to promoting the self-sufficiency of tribes envisioned in the Indian Gaming Regulation Act. Growth reflected in 2019 gaming revenues shows the strength of the recent tribal economy. The Indian gaming industry is an important factor for many tribal economies across the country," said Simmermeyer.

The reporting period for FY19 ended before COVID-19 Pandemic temporarily closed all tribal gaming operations. While the full effects of the pandemic have not yet materialized, many Indian gaming operations are still closed or operating at reduced capacity. Some Indian gaming operations have been closed since March 2020. The impact of the pandemic on the Indian gaming industry will be reflected in the FY2020 GGR report.

"It is important to recognize the impact of the pandemic on tribes," Simmermeyer warned. Chairman Simmermeyer continued, "Tribes' commitment to the safe and sustainable Indian gaming industry is shown in the precautions that tribes continue to take during difficult economic times caused by the pandemic. This commitment has fostered a successful and responsibly regulated Indian gaming industry over the decades."

Vice-Chairman Isom-Closs said, "While we welcome this positive report for fiscal 2019, we know that the current reality is dramatically different. Future reports will reflect the pandemic's impact on the industry, as well as how it continues to adapt to changing conditions. Despite these current difficulties, India's game, such as tribal nations where it benefits, has proven its resilience over the years."

The FY19 GGR figures are calculated from 522 independently audited financial statements submitted to the NIGC by 245 federally recognized tribes across 29 states. The GGR of a job is the sum of the amount paid in prize money before deducting the work expenses. 카지노사이트
