The Pathway Home Developmental Soul Care

Do you long to find a steady pathway to a loving connection with God?

Is there a desire to let Holy Spirit repair your early foundations to bring more wholeness and freedom?

Want to re-experience your life from heaven's perspective?

That's what Developmental Soul Care is all about!

  • Revisiting your life journey with Holy Spirit as Guide and Healer
  • Inviting the Voice of God to instill truths at each life stage
  • Building on current understanding of neuroscience to offer repair to developmental and attachment issues
  • Bringing transformation through an experiential, encounter based approach to your relationship with God
Your Soul Care Provider will help position you for wholeness using spiritual practices and creative approaches.

In the pathway of our lives, we all have uneven places where our foundations were not well built. Trauma and neglect can be like diversions or rocky places where we get stuck again and again. By going back to the early affirmations of a healthy life, we can allow God to bring truth, repair and well-being.

GOD LOVES TO REPAIR OUR FOUNDATIONS

Because the One who loves them—as a mother loves her child—will be their guide. God will lead them to restful places, rejuvenating springs of water. I will make their going easy, level the mountain road and smooth the path that leads them home.

Isaiah 49:10b-11, The Voice

what's the approach?

Spiritual Practices

There will be an invitation to interact with God through scripture, worship, prayer, and personalized spiritual practices that help you to connect with God at the heart level.

Creative Practices

Your spiritual director will aid you to select key creative practices that deepen your experience of what God is revealing to you. For example: creative journaling; coloring; doodling; sketching; art; flip books with images of significant encounters with God; dance; play. Having fun is an intended part of the process!

Key Developmental Tools

You will be choosing life rhythms, activities and tasks that assist you in experiencing comfort, safety and love in your relationship with God, others and yourself. Implementing these are part of restoring neurological pathways and experiential truths.

“I feel the grace of the Lord to make mistakes. There’s enough security between me and God to make mistakes. It’s okay to grow up, move forward. No fear that it has to look a specific way – freedom to BE.” -- DSC client

Note: All of those who train in the approach of The Pathway Home, are already trained spiritual directors or soul care providers from various programs throughout the country. The DSC training provides a focus within the field of spiritual direction and soul care, much like some directors have training in an emphasis on Ignatian spirituality, etc. The individual provider brings a unique background of life experiences and other training modalities, sets their own practice fees and procedures, has their own insurance, and is responsible for maintaining an equitable practice within the field’s standard of practice. The Whole Peace is simply a provider of training in this approach and does not take responsibility for any practitioner's behavior and work.

Soul Care Providers and Spiritual Directors who have completed The Pathway Home Training

Terrie Caisley, B.S.N., S.D. tlcaisley@gmail.com
  • Terrie lives in Western New York where she provides Spiritual Direction online and in person. Her long-term yearning to become a Spiritual Director was fulfilled in 2015 when she received her Certificate in Spiritual Direction (from Healing Care Ministries International), and subsequently her Certificate in Developmental Spiritual Direction in 2021. She continues to hone her skills by serving as an Associate for the HCM Spiritual Direction program.
  • Since hearing and listening to God and others is an integral part of direction, it is of note that she received training and much practice in Therapeutic Communication in her former career as an oncology nurse, and listening skills in her concurrent role as a Family Court mediator with The Center for Resolution and Justice. She also received a Certificate in Formational Prayer in 2020 (HCMI) and assists in facilitating Healing Care Groups. Terrie earned her certificate in Developmental Soul Care from The Whole Peace in 2021, and served as an associate for the training program in 2021-22.
  • Terrie loves to read, run, produce a weekly ‘Sunday Lunch’ for her family, and swing deals for fruit-n-veg with local Amish farmers. She is married with 2 adult children and 3 young granddaughters. She finds great joy in basking in The Present Moments of her granddaughters’ childhood. Her own childhood was spent as the daughter of missionaries in Africa, and was full of both wonderful and painful times. She has been on her own Developmental Soul Care journey since October 2020 and through it, has found healing for wounds she never knew she had, and for wounds she believed she would have to live with for the rest of her life. It is because of this that she delights to offer to accompany others on their path to healing, wholeness and hope through the Developmental Soul Care approach.

She received a certificate in the Spiritual Formation & the Art of Spiritual Direction program through Healing Care Ministries in Ashland, Ohio, and subsequent training in The Pathway Home program, using a developmental approach to soul care from The Whole Peace.
  • Aside from her formal training, perhaps what best equips Bethany as a Spiritual Director is her own sacred journey of learning to befriend her own soul, which prepares her to hold sacred space for your soul, for your journey, for your story. Bethany feels privileged to walk with you as a fellow traveler – to listen to your heart, to help you see Jesus at work in your life, and to step into the freedom He has for you.
  • Included in her journey are: her loving husband of 30 years, four engaging adult children, eight siblings and extended family. Bethany finds joy and beauty in feeding and caring for blue birds, which nest in her yard each spring and summer. She feels a deep connection to England, Ireland and Scotland which brings her delight, and explains, in part, her fondness for Celtic Christianity. Diane Uy, S.D., dianeu32@gmail.com
  • Diane is a spiritual director, trained through the Selah program of Leadership Transformations Inc. She sees women from all over the world on zoom and in-person at home in central NJ. Her additional training in Developmental Soul Care wonderfully complemented what she was already doing with spiritual direction and her church’s women’s ministry. She is excited about the ministry of spiritual direction and developmental soul care because God has used them powerfully in her own life. She particularly loves listening to the stories of women who have previously felt unheard or marginalized and women who are engaged in ministering to others.
  • In addition to spiritual direction training, Diane has a BA in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Work and worked with teenage moms, foster families, and birth parents considering adoption. These experiences have allowed her to understand the needs of women experiencing life disruptions and loss. She has also been significantly shaped by a racially diverse culture and is currently involved in women’s ministry at a growing church plant in Trenton NJ.
  • She has been married for over 25 years and has three teen and young adult children, both biological and adopted. She enjoys reading, walking, hiking and spending a lot of time with family at musicals and baseball games. She leads Bible studies in her home, mentors young women, and thinks prayerfully about the needs of her church. She loves using imaginative imagery in prayer, while staying rooted in Scripture and Christian orthodoxy. This also informs how she connects with women as they seek to grow in relationship with Christ, sort out their thoughts and questions, or are experiencing some level of brokenness. She brings a joyful and compassionate listening ear and a deep trust that God will work in the midst of it all! Her website provides a little more information about her and her approach at https://www.taketimeforgod.com/.

  • Alice is a Spiritual Director who lives in southern Maryland. She completed her training in Spiritual Direction (Certificate in Spiritual Formation & The Art of Spiritual Direction, Healing Care Ministries, 2015), and served as an Associate for the program. Her passion for Spiritual Direction compelled her to continue her training in both Developmental Soul Care (The Whole Peace, 2021), and in Spiritual Direction Supervision (Certificate in Supervision, Sustainable Faith, 2022). She is currently serving as Faculty for the Spiritual Formation & Art of Spiritual Direction program as well as piloting a new Supervision program for HCM. All her sessions are available online only.
  • Alice’s life journey took many different turns. She received her M.A. in International Affairs before moving to the Washington D.C. area to work and raise her family. Alice served as a Pastor in The Waldorf Vineyard Church for nineteen years, loves to facilitate healing care groups, (she completed the Certificate in Formational Prayer from Ashland Theological Seminary in 2014) and has close connections with different churches in her area.
  • Alice has Dutch roots and was born and raised in Canada. When she’s not walking her giant dog Theo, you can find her reading, writing, enjoying a cup of tea or some dark chocolate with friends, and visiting her children and grandchildren. When life gets crazy, Alice remembers to breathe and say the Jesus prayer. The nicest thing someone once said about her was, “Do you ever get together with Alice and NOT talk about God??” God in all things - what else is there?? 😊
This work is dedicated to Dr. Terry Wardle, his wife Cheryl, Dr. Anne Halley and Chris Ramsey, M.A. There are no words of gratitude great enough to express the impact their lives and teaching have had on my own journey of wholeness in Christ. This work reflects their great influence as guides on the pathway home.

However He may lead you, may the Presence and perspective of Christ bring wholeness to you on your journey.
