Highlights of the week
It has been an incredibly busy and exciting week at school, filled with outdoor adventures, cultural celebrations, and preparation for one of our biggest community events of the year!
🌲 Year 6 Conquer New Heights at Boundless Outdoors
At the beginning of the week, many of our Year 6 children headed off to West Malvern for a two-day residential at Boundless Outdoors. Focused on the themes of teamwork and challenge, it was wonderful to see every single child throw themselves into the outdoor activities. The centre operates a fantastic "Choose Your Challenge" policy. Instead of pressure, children are given gentle encouragement to push past their comfort zones at their own pace.
- Personal Triumphs: For some, success was celebrating climbing halfway up a wall.
- Facing Fears: For others, it was conquering the rope ladder in the trees and finding the courage to look across the rope bridge, even if they chose not to walk across it.
Every single effort was celebrated! Beyond the activities, the children also thoroughly enjoyed the excitement (and unique experience!) of sharing dormitories with their peers. They represented our school beautifully. Thank you to the team of Colmore Staff who accompanied the children and gave up their evenings and some of their sleep!
🇫🇷 A Taste of France & Summer Fair Prep
The excitement continued back on campus. On Thursday, we hosted a brilliant School French Day, immersing the children in the language and culture. Today, the school looks a bit different as students enjoyed another non-uniform day to support the school summer fair. Thank you all so much for your generosity—the children have brought in some fantastic items to help stock our stalls for the big event.
☀️ Join Us Tomorrow for the Summer Fair
Please join us tomorrow, Saturday, for our Summer Fair between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. It promises to be a wonderful afternoon for the whole family, and we cannot wait to see you there.
Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful weekend! Warm regards, Jon Gale
New classes for next academic year
After 32 years of teaching, with 21 years of those being at Colmore, the Infant Assistant Head Teacher, Mr Dipple, has made the decision to take early retirement at the end of this academic year. Mr Dipple has had an incredible impact on Colmore's identity and success and also that of new and trainee teachers. We would like to wish Mr Dipple an incredibly enjoyable, long, and happy retirement.
At the start of the summer term, we opened our Wellbeing Zone! On dry days at lunchtime children have been enjoying playing a range of games, chatting quietly and creating beautiful pictures in our lovely garden area.
In autumn, the Ecokids planted a range of bulbs, herbs and wildflowers in the science garden to try and attract more pollinators and increase the biodiversity of our site. Look how well they’re growing! We’ve seen loads of bees this week having a fantastic time amongst the flowers!
We are overwhelmed by the standard of entries into the inaugural science eco competition. What a fantastic array of sea creatures the children have produced. Winners will be announced next week. Good luck to all!
