Thank you to the Y8 students who took part in making posters to show kindness across the school for Y7 and 8.
Here are some of their works representing data in dual Bar charts.
Mrs Rouz
It’s great to see recognition for all the candidates who participated in the UK Maths challenge. Practicing past exam papers is indeed a valuable way to build mathematical reasoning, precision, and fluency. It not only helps students improve their problem-solving skills but also boosts their confidence in tackling complex mathematical concepts. Keep up the great work encouraging this kind of dedication!
Mrs Rouz.
World Book Day
Next Thursday 6th March is World Book Day. Staff and students from all year groups are invited to dress up as characters from one of their favourite literary books. This is not compulsory, but all are encouraged to join in the fun. There will be a costume competition run by the English department for favourite book character costume.
This is not a MUFTI Day; if your child does not dress up as a book character, they must wear their regular school uniform. They cannot wear their own clothing if it is not directly related to a book character. Students should dress according to the spirit of the day, which is to celebrate storytelling, book characters and to encourage a love of reading. That being said, you don’t need to spend lots of money on an expensive outfit. Small nods to your child’s chosen character would be enough. For example, if dressing up as Harry Potter, some glasses, a drawn-on scar, and a red and gold tie/scarf would be enough.
The following may not be worn as part of the costume:
- Clothing which carries a political slogan or message
- Clothing with inappropriate slogans or imagery
- Crop tops/strappy vests – no midriffs showing
Please ensure that your child brings all their books, planners, equipment, PE kit and anything required for a normal school day.

Congratulations to Our A-Level Biology Students on Their Success in the British Biology Olympiad!
Just before half-term, our A-Level Biology students took on the challenge of the British Biology Olympiad (BBO)—a prestigious competition designed to stimulate and inspire students with a passion for biology. The Olympiad encourages participants to extend their knowledge, apply problem-solving skills, and engage with complex biological concepts beyond their usual curriculum.
This year, 18,533 students from 1,053 schools took part in the competition. Nationally, only 10% of students achieved a Silver award, while 15% received a Bronze award.
We are incredibly proud of all our students who participated in this rigorous challenge. A special congratulations to the following students for their outstanding achievements:
🏅 Silver Award: Haleema Dhar
🥉 Bronze Award: Mehrab Hussain
🎖️ Highly Commended: Hafsa Ali, Amiina Esse
Well done to all participants for their hard work and dedication! Your enthusiasm for biology is truly inspiring.

Managing your mental health during the colder months
Winter can evoke contrasting emotions: Here’s how to navigate the season healthily..
Things you can try yourself:
- Try to get as much natural sunlight as possible, even a brief lunchtime walk can be beneficial.
- Make your work and home environments as light and airy as possible
- Sit near windows when you are indoors.
- Take plenty of regular exercise particularly in outdoors and daylight.
- Eat a healthy balanced diet.
- Engage in social activities: try a new sports club or ask a friend to join you for a walk or movie
- Prioritise quality sleep by keeping your bedroom cool, dark and quiet and avoiding screens for a while before bed.
