Every year, SJS comes up with something unique and creative to foster the young minds with curiosity, innovation and critical thinking. "The Junior Journal" is another unique feature of the school which aims to showcase and celebrate the exceptional events and achievements of the students learning at SJS, Naraina. The publication is released on a monthly basis, providing a comprehensive overview of the notable accomplishments, events and projects undertaken by the learners in a month, within our educational community. This monthly journal will serve as a platform to recognize and applaud the outstanding efforts of the students.

Building Bridges: A Successful PTA Gathering at Salwan Junior School

On May 4, 2024, the Salwan Junior School PTA held a fruitful meeting, welcoming new members and fostering a sense of community. Highlights included a fun quiz, presentations on PTA roles, and discussions on future projects. This engaging session laid a strong foundation for collaboration.

Seeds of Change: Education and Empathy

At SJS, we emphasize empathy, understanding, and responsibility for the world. Aligned with NGO Goonj's mission, a teachers' meeting was attended by Ms. Tajinder Kaur on Friday, May 10th, 2024, at NGO Goonj, Sarita Vihar, Delhi. The event included a Goonj site visit, teacher reflections, and discussions on sustainable practices, culminating in collaborative ideas for enhancing our school's contribution to this noble cause.

Fun, Games, and Sweet Delights: Kicking Off Summer with Joyful Heights!

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, classes I-V celebrated the last school day before summer vacation with thrilling activities. Parachute games, board games, puzzles, and tambola stirred excitement in all the classes. A lively dance party showcased students' best moves, followed by an ice cream treat enjoyed by all. The day's memories left students buzzing with excitement, eagerly anticipating their summer adventures.

Honoring the Backbone: Labour's Day Assembly at Salwan Junior School

"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, Salwan Junior School paid heartfelt tribute to its Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) members. The assembly featured a skit, dances, and personalized greetings to honor their dedication. Fun games and special meals added joy. The event underscored the importance of recognizing and appreciating the labor that sustains our school community.

Celebrating Mothers: From Nursery to Class V- A Day of Love and Creativity

"A mother’s love is the heartbeat of the home."

On Friday, May 10th, 2024, our school celebrated Mother’s Day with heartwarming creativity. Nursery and KG students made beautiful cards and bracelets, learned a special dance, and shared heartfelt audio messages about their mothers. The event showcased their dedication and joy, honoring the incredible mothers in our lives memorably.

The senior classes showed their love for their moms by adding extra love, garnished with respect and care and displayed it through handmade cards, show pieces, DIY ice cream sticks hangings, wish tree and blessings for the mothers in heart shaped wish cards and flower cards. Love and respect for the mothers of SJS was shown brilliantly by the salwanians!

Kindergarten Fun Day: A Splash of Joy

"The best education does not happen at a desk, but rather engaged in everyday living – hands-on, exploring, in active relationship with life."

On the last working day before the summer break, Wednesday, May 15, 2024, our kindergarten children embraced the warm weather with sandpit play, water games, and sprinklers. Ice creams and climbing fun added to the joy, making it a perfect day of laughter and memorable moments, setting the tone for a relaxing summer break.

CPD Sessions.: Bridging the Gap for Staff Members

"Play is the highest form of research."

At Salwan Junior School, in-service workshops held in the month of May 2024, focused on adapting B.Ed. and B. El. Ed knowledge for primary level teaching. Comparing B.Ed. and B.El.Ed. programs, the workshops highlighted differences in target age groups, program duration, and teaching methodologies. B.El. Ed faculty members from Maths, English, Hindi, and EVS departments shared insights. Participants selected and discussed concepts and effective teaching approaches, emphasizing play-based learning for young students by way of ppts and sharing of teaching learning material.

Empowering Educators: Insights from a SET CPD Programme

"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."

Salwan Education Trust's annual CPD programme held in the month of May 2024, aims at training the teachers with the new and trending skills to equip the learners further. The series of workshops began with CPD training of Primary staff members across all Salwan schools. It equipped 60 primary teachers with strategies for fostering reading, gamification, learning, and optimizing learning environments. Experts emphasized on the joy in reading, Integration of AI tools and apps in making our lessons exciting to creation of learning environment and it's influence on learning. Key takeaways included daily read-aloud sessions, AI content creation, and leveraging the environment as a teaching tool. The event underscored the commitment to educational excellence.

It was followed by Day 2 CPD Workshop of Montessori faculty focussing on managing inclusion and hyperactivity in classrooms. Speakers addressed strategies for promoting peace, lawfulness, and integrity, integrating Bloom's Taxonomy into early childhood lesson planning, and adopting the Person-Environment-Occupation model to support hyperactive students. The event emphasized collaborative approaches to ensure every child thrives in a supportive environment.

Another CPD session at SPS, Rajindra Nagar, featured insightful talks on effective leadership, heartfelt listening, mental health, stakeholder management, and fostering innovation. Key highlights included Mr. Sushil Salwan's emphasis on intentionality and excellence, Ms. Rekha Krishnan's strategies for adaptive and technical challenges, Ms. Aditi Mishra's burnout prevention, and Mr. Atul Nischal's call for a culture of innovation inspired the listeners. SPS Gurugram's pilot project for NCF 2020 showcased innovative educational practices.

The Power of Theatre in Education: A Transformative Journey

"Theatre is a mirror, a sharp reflection of society."

On May 28, 2024, Salwan Public School hosted a capacity-building program for 40 primary teachers, led by Mr. Ashok Tiwari of SCERT. The focus was on integrating theatre into education, enhancing creativity, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation. Engaging activities, innovative practices, and collaborative discussions enriched the participants, aligning with NEP and NCF guidelines for holistic student development.

Summer Success: Strengthening Foundations through Remedial Classes

From May 16 to May 28, 2024, remedial classes for Grades I to V focused on phonics, spelling, and vocabulary building. Tailored activities and parental guidance on interactive techniques enhanced learning. These sessions effectively bridged gaps, preparing students for their next academic year and fostering a collaborative educational environment.

Brighter Minds: Cultivating Cognitive Brilliance

"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."

From May 16' 2024 to May 22' 2024, students in Classes III to V participated in the 5-day Brighter Minds program. This initiative aims to enrich observation and cognitive abilities through a blend of Balanced Brain Education theories and practical brainwave research. Activities included prayer sessions, brain gym exercises, and relaxation music. Emphasizing virtues like patience and positivity, the program fosters holistic development akin to coaching young athletes.

Harmony in Verse: Celebrating Environmental Consciousness

"Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words."

The Hindi Poetry Recital's final round, themed 'Paryavaran Suraksha' (Environment Protection), resonated with passion and purpose. Young poets from classes I to III eloquently conveyed messages of environmental stewardship through heartfelt recitations. Their performances not only showcased talent but also inspired a commitment to safeguarding the planet. The event culminated in awards and praise, reinforcing the importance of environmental consciousness.

Culinary Creativity: Fireless Cooking Fun Across Classes I,II and III

We just didn't cook; we created memories that will last a lifetime.

Today, our little chefs from Classes I-III stirred up magic without the flames." Students from all three grades came together for an enchanting fireless cooking activity, igniting their imaginations and taste buds. In Class I, the students crafted Foxnut Chaat, blending nutritious ingredients with a dash of creativity. Meanwhile, Class II concocted fruity delights, concocting refreshing fruit salads. Lastly, Class III whipped up delectable sandwiches, mastering the art of layering flavors and salads. Through these culinary adventures, students not only learned the joy of cooking but also fostered a deeper appreciation for healthy eating habits.

Nurturing Talents: SJS Summer Camp 2024-25

“What we learn with pleasure, we never forget.”

Salwan Junior School’s Summer Camp 2024-25 offered a plethora of activities from western dance to chess and yoga, enhancing students' skills and creativity. The camp was for of ten days, during the summer break saw participation by all students, and enjoyed in engaging sessions with expert coaching. Each participant received a certificate of participation, a photo momento to celebrating their learning journey at SJS.

We are pleased to share that Reyansh Sehgal of class III A participated in the NSTSE exam and has secured 90% marks and an overall India rank 381.
We are pleased to share that TOSHANI Pratap Singh of class III B participated in the NSTSE exam and has secured 80% marks
Garvik Tripathi and Vardaan Tanwar from Class III A secured gold medals, showcasing their superior skills and determination. Their victory was a testament to their hard work and dedication.
Ayaan Tyagi earned a well-deserved silver medal, highlighting his impressive technique and competitive spirit. Additionally, Arnav Singh from Class III B and Harshit Nirwal from Class III A both clinched bronze medals, adding to the school's tally and exemplifying the depth of talent at Salwan Junior School.
