Wellness Workshops Straidhavern Primary school

Did you know that April is stress awareness month? In Straidhavern Primary School, mental health and wellbeing is a key priority for our pupils, staff, parents and wider community.

With this in mind, we have devised a program of wellness events for adults to take place during April and May 2024. We understand that childcare is a concern for busy parents, and so we would like to provide childcare for your child(ren) to enable you to attend the events. You are free to sign up for as few or as many of the workshops as you are able to attend, and we look forward to welcoming you to these on the dates and times specified.

Qigong works on the central nervous system to improve mood, mental clarity, memory and sleep.

Tai Chi is a small branch of Qigong.

Yin Yoga

Friday 31st May, 6.30-7.30pm

Yin yoga is a slower paced but often challenging style of yoga, incorporating the principals of traditional Chinese medicine with passively holding certain yoga postures for longer periods of time (from 1-5mins).

Yin Yoga targets both deep connective tissues between the muscles and the fascia holding the body together. The aim is to increase circulation and mobility of the joints, flexibility of the muscles and allow the body to move freer, hence reducing stress in both body and mind.
