On Monday morning, members of the class of 2025 gathered on Old Campus to celebrate Yale’s 324th Commencement.
They arrived in procession, a river of black robes flowing from Cross Campus and Beinecke Plaza, weaving through the New Haven Green before settling into a sea of thousands of chairs across Old Campus.
Dressed in simple black gowns, Yale College students each wore stoles identifying their residential college affiliations, with some also expressing school and residential college pride with other adornments. Students in Saybrook College donned grapes on their graduation caps, those from Silliman College sported a red salamander on theirs, while graduates of the Yale School of the Environment wore caps adorned with greenery and floral arrangements. Yale College students also waved pennants representing their residential colleges and chanted songs showcasing their pride.
