Each course will have an accompanying portfolio with a mix of self paced learning, virtual sessions, reflective activities and professional reading suggestions for further exploration. We encourage you to share your learning and reflections within your school settings or simply upload your portfolio to your GTCS profile to keep a log of your efforts.
Supporting ALL Learners
This engaging course is designed to empower educators with the knowledge and guidance needed to use iPad tools to support the diverse needs of all learners. Through a blend of self-paced exploration, hands-on trial and reflection, and interactive virtual sessions, participants will discover how to personalise learning, remove barriers, and help every learner achieve their full potential. Collaborate with peers, build confidence, and unlock the power of digital tools to create inclusive, supportive learning environments.

Digital Tools for Assessment
Discover how to make the most of digital technology for both formative and summative assessment. This course will explore tools like Showbie, Socrative, and other quizzing apps, showing how they can be used alongside core SBC apps to provide timely, effective feedback and support student progress.

Digitally Creative Classrooms
In today’s ever-changing world, creativity is a key skill for success. This hands-on course explores how Apple’s Everyone Can Create resources can transform learning and teaching across all subjects. Designed for educators of all experience levels, this course will develop your skills in integrating creative tools—such as drawing, photography, video, and music—into everyday lessons.

Supporting literacy with Digital
This practical course supports primary and secondary teachers across the Scottish Borders to enhance literacy through purposeful use of digital tools. Aligned with Curriculum for Excellence and the SBC Digital Strategy, the course explores how technology can improve reading, writing, listening and talking experiences. Teachers will gain confidence in using apps and platforms to support engagement, accessibility and creativity in literacy learning, while developing strategies to embed digital in everyday practice.

Supporting Numeracy with digital
This hands-on course empowers primary and secondary teachers to enhance numeracy teaching through the effective use of digital tools, in line with Curriculum for Excellence. Learn how to use technology to support conceptual understanding, visualise mathematical thinking, encourage problem-solving, and provide instant feedback. The course focuses on practical, accessible strategies that boost engagement, support differentiation, and help raise attainment in numeracy and maths across the curriculum.

Spotlight on Adobe Express
Discover how Adobe Express can transform the way you plan, create and deliver learning. Across three practical sessions, you’ll explore how the app supports:
Productivity – streamlining planning, resources and workflow.
Creativity – designing eye-catching visuals, videos and graphics to enhance learning.
AI – harnessing new tools to save time and spark innovative ideas.
In the final session, the focus shifts to your learners: you’ll see how Adobe Express empowers pupils to communicate, collaborate and create with confidence, giving them skills that go far beyond the classroom.

Getting Started with iPad
Get started with using iPads and technology to enhance learning and teaching in your classroom. This practical course introduces the key apps used within SBC and explores how they can support engagement and creativity. You'll also gain an understanding of the core digital expectations and discover how to embed them seamlessly into your daily planning.

Join our professional learning sessions to explore the digital schools award and find out how to gain accreditation for your school. Each session will focus on a different area of the award, share best practices that will help your school achieve this prestigious accreditation.
