Ysgol Tir Morfa - Newsletter

FRIDAY 3rd July 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s hard to believe we’re already in July - the last few weeks of term are always busy, and this one has absolutely flown by. A real highlight was our celebration assembly as we said goodbye to our visitors from Lesotho. It’s been such a privilege having them with us, learning from each other and sharing so many special moments. A big thank you as well to our friends from Ysgol Emmanuel and Ysgol Llywelyn for joining us and helping to make the celebration so special.   Please don’t forget to pop along to our Summer Fair on Tuesday 7th July between 10am and 12 noon - we’d love to see you there.   I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards,

Susan H. Roberts

Headteacher

Information & Other Events

Attendance Information for Parents and Carers

As part of our continued focus on attendance this year, we have decided to share attendance data regularly with parents and carers through our newsletter. Attendance remains one of our school priorities, and we believe that sharing this information helps keep everyone informed and working together to support our pupils. In Wales, the Welsh Government defines good attendance as 95% or above. Attendance of 90% or below is classed as persistent absence. These benchmarks are used nationally across schools in Wales. We would like to reassure families that we fully recognise that many pupils at YTM have significant health or medical needs which may make it difficult, or sometimes impossible, to meet these targets. As a school, we understand this and want to be very clear that no parent or carer should feel pressured or judged where absences are due to genuine health-related reasons. Our intention in sharing attendance data is simply to ensure transparency and awareness of our overall school attendance and the expectations placed upon us as a school. We value our strong partnership with families and appreciate your continued support in helping pupils attend whenever they are able to do so. If you would like to discuss attendance in relation to your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school - we are always happy to work together to provide the best possible support.
