Project information
Service Electrical Distributors (SED) is an independently owned electrical wholesaler, who strives to deliver service at best value prices. SED are valued suppliers for Sovini Group member, Sovini Trade Supplies. As such, The Sovini Group's Stakeholder Engagement Team approached SED to see if they could help with a variety of projects.
Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre
As part of our partnership, we worked with SED to support the Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre (NPNC) which is a vital asset to the local Netherton community. They bring the community together by providing a safe and fun environment for all age groups.
The NPNC serves an estate where 40% of children receive free-school meals. Education around cooking nutritious, cost effective meals is vital for the area. To help support local residents, NPNC approached The Sovini Group to see if we could help with providing a selection of slow cookers and air fryers as part of their healthy cooking initiative.
In response, SED donated dozens of small appliances which will serve as a vital asset to those on a low income as they will provide a cost-effective way to cook healthy family meals. In addition to receiving either a small cooker or air fryer, residents will also be invited to take part in a cookery course to further teach them how to best use their new appliance.
Additionally, they also donated 200 cups with a total value of £1,000 so that the centre could continue to serve complimentary tea and coffee to the local community.
Veterans HQ
Veterans HQ have been fundamental in driving the veterans strategy forward across Merseyside. The organisation was born out of a programme of support for homeless men in the city and the need was identified to develop a joined up cohesive support programme for ex-armed forces personnel, reservists and their families.
The Sovini Group have been partners with Veterans HQ for many years, and as part of this partnership the Group provide assistance where possible to help support various veteran programmes run by Veterans HQ.
SED were recently able to help support Veterans HQ by donating a cooker and microwave which has helped to support their 'Kickstart 2 Health' programme. Through this initiative, a total of 125 veterans were supported, generating £214,583 in social value according to the HACT Social Value Calculator.
Customer support

OVH prides themselves on offering more than bricks and mortar, providing a wealth of advice and support to their customers. They believe in creating a better future for their customers and as such work with partner agencies to ensure customers have a safe and secure home.
In 2022 OVH were alerted to the case of a particularly vulnerable customer who was struggling to care for her young family as she was unable to provide any cooking facilities in her home. The Group's Stakeholder Engagement Team reached out to SED to see if there was anything they may be able to do to help. In response, SED provided a cooker and microwave for the customer.

In total, SED have helped to support hundreds of residents in Sefton and Liverpool to enjoy new cooking equipment in their homes and community centres. Their generous donations have helped to improve the health and wellbeing of communities across Merseyside.
