#PROFALCONS

Here are some of the pros from bowling green since 2018. Bowling Green is a proven pathway where player development and the preparation for the next level is prioritized.

Featuring Chelsee Washington who was the first MAC player to get drafted into the NWSL; Jasmin, Lacee, Lexi, Madi and Lena currently playing in Europe, Kenna shining bright in Australia, and many more.

STYLE OF PLAY

Many programs will project themselves as "possession oriented" and the aggressors in every game, few can do so consistently against some of the best teams in the country.

A professional environment that prioritizes development, a purposeful, attacking, possession-based system, and a team that demonstrates great character, personality, and a strong work ethic all contribute to this.

Meet the coaches

HEAD COACH | CHRIS FOX

Chris Fox, the architect of an impressive turnaround at Morehead State, was named head women's soccer coach at BGSU on Wed., Dec. 20, 2023, Director of Athletics Derek van der Merwe announced.

Fox assumed the helm of the Morehead State program in 2022, taking over a program that had won a total of 18 games in the previous five seasons, and proceeded to lead the Eagles to a 7-7-4 record in that '22 campaign, followed by a 9-6-5 mark in 2023.

The Eagles, who went 6-18-4 in Ohio Valley Conference play in the three seasons from 2019-21, posted a 4-2-2 league mark in the 2022 campaign.

Then, in 2023, MSU went 6-1-2 in OVC regular-season play to finish second in the conference, then won the league tournament to advance to the NCAA Championships. Fox was named a 2023 OVC co-Coach of the Year. The team's overall record of 9-6-5 in the fall of 2023 was the team's best mark since 2015.

Fox's guidance led to immense success in 2022 as the Eagles finished with seven wins and four OVC wins. The program achieved a plethora of accolades and accomplishments including the highest OVC finish since 2013 (third), the most wins since 2015 (7), the third-longest unbeaten streak (6) in program history, the fewest losses since 2014, and the fewest goals allowed in program history (21).

In addition, Fox's style of play led to ample opportunities for student-athletes to achieve a high number of individual honors, including the program's first clean sweep of all three OVC weekly awards (Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week) since 2007, and the program's first All-OVC First-Team honoree since 2018.

Then, in 2023, Fox and the Eagles enjoyed many more accolades, including the program's most all-conference selections (five) since 1999 and the OVC Tournament MVP.

Associate Head Coach | Steven Samuel

In January 2025, Bowling Green State University women's soccer Head Coach Chris Fox announced the addition of Steven Samuel to his staff. "I am thrilled to add Steven to our staff," said Fox. "He is a highly motivated individual with a wealth of experience at the Division I level. Steven is a tireless recruiter, has a growth mindset and firmly believes in positional play soccer. I have no doubt he will hit the ground running and be an integral part of what we are trying to build here in Bowling Green!"

In August 2025, Bowling Green State University women's soccer head coach Chris Fox announced Samuel's promotion to serve as the Falcons' associate head coach.

Samuel comes to BGSU after two seasons on the staff at Coastal Carolina University. In the 2024 season, Samuel helped the Chanticleers to an overall record of 8-7-6, a five-win improvement over the previous season and the program's highest win total since 2018. CCU posted a winning record for the first time since 2017.The 2024 team, picked to finish 12th in the 14-team Sun Belt Conference in the preseason coaches poll, finished 3-3-4 in league action and earned the seventh seed for the Sun Belt Tournament. In the tourney, the Chants pulled a quarterfinal-round upset over the number-two seed to advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2017.

Before joining head coach Jo Chubb's staff at CCU in February of 2023,  Samuel spent one season at Old Dominion. ODU captured the 2022 Sun Belt Conference crown in their first season in the league. Prior to his year at ODU, Samuel spent two seasons at Mount St Mary's University in Maryland. In his time with the Mountaineers, Samuel worked directly with the attacking unit and oversaw a consistent improvement in offensive production in 2020 and 2021. The 22 goals scored in the 2021 season were the most since 2012. Samuel helped develop five All-Northeast Conference Team honorees in the 2020 season, the highest single-season total in program history. Samuel also spent two seasons as an undergraduate assistant coach at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

A native of Lagos, Nigeria, Samuel graduated from UMBC in 2019 with a degree in psychology. He also earned a master's degree in sports management in 2022 from Mount St Mary's.

ASSISTANT COACH | Hope Stacker

Bowling Green State University women's soccer head coach  has announced the addition of Hope Stacker to his staff. Stacker joins the Falcons after spending the last two seasons at Old Dominion University. "I'm excited to add Hope to our staff," said head coach . "Hope is a high-energy coach who is hard-working, devoted, and fully invested in the development of our student-athletes. As a young coach, she will relate well to our players and will be a strong mentor for them on and off the field. Hope is also an outstanding goalkeeper coach whose attention to detail and passion for the position will elevate our goalkeeper union."

Stacker has spent the previous two seasons with the Monarchs as an assistant coach, helping guide Old Dominion goalkeeper Emily Bredak to the SBC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2024.  In 2025, ODU finished with an overall mark of 11-3-4 and a 6-1-3 league ledger. The Monarchs defeated power conference schools Maryland and Virginia Tech and finished 52nd in the nation in the RPI.
