Internship Opportunity: MCA Connect

I was a software engineering intern at MCA Connect, a Microsoft partner that deals with manufacturing consulting. The internship was located in Denver, Colorado. MCA was one of the many companies I applied to using work search platforms. I was in the Development Center of Excellence (DCOE) which consisted of eight other interns and two full-time hires.

The DCOE is more of a learning experience rather than completing small projects for the company. Being a Microsoft partner and a consulting firm, we learned a lot about the business world and how it connects with the tech world. Some of the new tools and skills I have include X++, Dynamics 365, Azure, Connected Applications, and Power Platforms, all of which are exclusive to Microsoft.

The creator of the DCOE program is a Lehigh alum and the company has a strong Lehigh pipeline!

Not only was I able to meet so many great people and expand my network, I also learned an immense amount of material and valuable knowledge in such a short time. I was able to get a glimpse of what life after college would be like, stepping into a more mature mentality and lifestyle.

The Interview Process:

The interview process included two interviews: one online and one in person.

The first interview was a technical screening to see if the applicant had the appropriate skills to continue the process. The second interview was a dinner meeting to see if the applicant was an appropriate fit for the company personality wise.

Landing the Job!

After returning from Denver, I was thrilled to receive an offer from MCA Connect. I'm excited to announce that I'll be starting a full-time position as an associate software engineer in June of 2024!

Exploring Denver:

I was lucky enough to have a great group of coworkers at my internship. We would go hiking, see movies, and go out to eat. We went to a couple of Rockies games together too. I spent a lot of my free time reading, doing yoga, and even went to a Red Rocks concert.

Balancing Work and Basketball

Working an 8-5 and balancing training for basketball created a bit of a challenge as I had limited access to modes of transportation. However, the hotel we stayed in had an amazing gym so I focused on my physical training and cardio. Luckily, the guys in my program loved playing basketball so when we did have the opportunity, we would play pickup until the gym closed!
