From The TAG: Maj. Gen. Gregory Knight
No surprise for our Guard, August was yet again a busy month with lots of great training and events. A highlight for me was having the chance to visit Soldiers and Airmen during our annual TAG Match at Ethan Allen Firing Range. I even got to shoot the individual competition. I have no idea where I placed, but that wasn’t as important to me as simply witnessing the collegiality and esprit de corps that comes with competition. There is nothing better than visiting with Soldiers and Airmen on the range – doing what they love. I need more like you.
Normally I reflect on the previous month, but September looks to be especially busy. We are hosting the Open House, Soldier Showcase, and Vermont Remembers Run all on the same weekend. Three large scale events that require extensive planning. Thanks to everyone for their efforts, your work matters. Please share our events with your family and friends. As I have said before, we aren’t Area 51, and the only way we can show people who we are is by getting them here to see who we are and what we do.
September also marks the end of our fiscal and recruiting years. There’s typically a heightened level of stress around money and recruiting this time of year, especially for our fulltime staff. Know that you have support. We all have a lot on our plates, and I encourage you to keep up the great work. We are an amazing organization because of you.
Lastly, I send a 6 month review to our political leadership across Vermont – and to you. Give it a read. It’s a lot, but sharing information is critical for us. It might give you some extra insight into all the other areas of the organization and what goes on across the state.
Thanks all and Put the Vermonters Ahead!
-Maj. Gen. Gregory Knight
