New Benches on Quarry!

It’s officially the end of the 2025-26 school year; Congrats to the Class of 2026! Time to take a break from the books and get outside. When you do, take note of the two new benches on Quarry Rd. Trail that were recently installed by Parks and Rec + Public Works in the locations scouted by Parks and Rec Commissioner Trudi Davis. A certain pitbull took respite on one during her evaluation and seemed to deem it acceptable. Who doesn’t want to take a seat in the shade?

Update on Traffic Signal Delays at Bayshore/Tunnel/Old County

The City of Brisbane is aware of ongoing traffic signal issues at the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard, Tunnel Avenue, and Old County Road.

Over the past several weeks, the City has received numerous calls and emails from community members regarding intermittent delays at this intersection. Drivers reported occasions when the traffic signal did not appear to recognize vehicles waiting on Tunnel Avenue and Old County Road, resulting in longer delays and vehicle backups than intended.

Because the issue occurred sporadically, it was initially difficult to observe and diagnose in real time. Information provided by residents helped staff better understand the timing and conditions under which the issue was occurring, and City staff have since been able to witness the problem firsthand.

The issue appears to be associated with recent signal system upgrades and integration efforts as part of a regional smart corridor initiative, although the exact cause is still under investigation. City staff and our traffic signal consultants are actively working with project partners to identify the root cause and implement a permanent solution.

In the meantime, temporary signal timing adjustments have been made to improve operations and reduce the likelihood of extended delays while troubleshooting continues. Staff will continue to monitor the intersection and make additional adjustments as needed.

We understand the frustration this issue has caused and appreciate the community's patience and assistance as we work toward a long-term fix. The City will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
