HELD NOTE CONCERT SERIES

The inaugural season of the Held Note is underway! Our second show was a wonderfully packed house who took in the vibes created by Hill City locals Lee Mattox and honeybrandy.

What began as a pair of long-form compositions drafted as a live set back in the autumn of 2024 grew into this series of meditations. When received in a single, roughly 30-minute sitting, the listener will be presented with a through line that bisects competing mindsets. No guidance or direction is provided and repeated listens may leave the listener in different heart spaces.

This, our ninth compilation, is a total "family & friends" affair. We've seen many artists come and go since dreaming this all up back in 2009. Consider this collection of tunes as a random card you get in the mail one day from a long-forgotten friend. It is steeped in nostalgic references and mile-markers from their journey that they think will at least hold your interest and at most rekindle a connection.

HSAL: 2009 - 2025

Established in the fall of 2009, the Harding Street Assembly Lab (HSAL) was a small, physical media based label based in Lynchburg Virginia. Our goal was to bring some attention to the music that lived & frequented south central Virginia. Releases included talent local to our town, the surrounding towns, and friends made on tour stops, art shows, & over the internet.

While there will continue to be occasional action stirring in the HSAL camp, this page will serve as the memorial for a season when we were able to capture and corral interesting music happening from across the Commonwealth and beyond.
