Healthy and Strong

Nursery, Summer Term, Week 5

We have been reading Handa’s Surprise and talking about the wide range of fruits and vegetables we can eat to stay healthy and strong. Some of them have been unfamiliar, but the children have been brave and tried tasting them.

Pineapple is delicious!

Our writing development work has been a little tricky this week. It is important that the children can form an anti-clockwise ‘o’ shape, ready for writing letters such as ‘a’, ‘c’, and ‘d’. Thank you for your support with this.

Having 1:1 support with writing really helps.

The children are excited about writing and have been making their own books this week.

Also exciting is how big our pea plants have grown! They might need repotting soon.

We were measuring the plant growth in fingers, but now it is ‘too many’ to count!

Measuring is not the only mathematical concept we have been talking about. The children have been learning about sorting and grouping by colour. This then led to an interest in mixing colours at the play dough and painting tables.

Colour sorting and mixing.

Another couple of highlights from the week...

A visit to our wonderful school dog, Willow.
Dance with Miss Davison.

And finally, my favourite photograph of the week: chilling in the library.

Nothing better than some time to browse books.

Happy weekend!
