Sounds great, but what does it cost?
I know the cost might seem a bit surprising at first glance, but here’s why this 2027 trip is an exceptional value! This itinerary includes more upfront: multiple countries, longer sailing distances, and a wide range of excursions and experiences that would normally add up quickly. While the initial price is higher, it significantly reduces out-of-pocket expenses during the trip, giving you a more inclusive, hassle-free experience. For perspective, our 2024 Switzerland 7-night motorcoach tour was priced around $3,300 per person, not including the pre-night stay. That trip offered fewer excursions and fewer included meals. Many travelers spent an additional $1,000+ on optional excursions and extra meals. This 2027 journey provides more experiences, more convenience, and greater overall value!
8-night sailing only

- Choice of included excursions as described in the itinerary.
- Port fees and pre-paid gratuities.
- 8 night sailing including breakfast, lunch, high tea, included happy hour starting on night 2, nightly dinner. Soft drinks, teas, coffee, wine and beer included at lunch and dinner.

- P: $6,065 per person

For an additional $1,149 per person to the 8 night sailing rate, join me for 4 additional nights.
- 1 pre-night in Bucharest to rest before your adventure.
- Travel by Erin inclusions as described in the itinerary.
- 1 additional night in Bucharest
- 2 nights in Transylvania
- Meals as outlined (you’ll need 1–2 dinners on your own and 2 lunches).
Traveling solo? Please reach out for pricing. The above rates are valid for our group until April 2027; however, we do not have guaranteed inventory. I highly recommend securing your space sooner rather than later, as inventory and availability are subject to change.
Insurance
Highly recommended as life is unpredictable! The insurance allows you to cancel any time for any reason and either receive a future travel credit to use within 2 years of cancelation, or if you are cancelling for a covered reason a cash back refund would be available. The full details of the insurance policy will be listed in the reservation form.
- Cabin D&E insurance would cost $479 per person. 8 nights sailing only the cost is $359
- All other cabins would cost $519 per person.
Flights
- Airfare is not included. You can book airfare on your own which I highly recommend so you have control over your seat assignment and any flight changes. Alternatively we can book this with Avalon. You are never alone, I am here to help anyone not familiar with booking a multi-city international ticket.
Shuttle
- For your convenience, Avalon can pick you up and drop you off at the airport. The arrival shuttle is $55 per person in Bucharest and departure shuttle is $55 per person in Budapest.
- Cruise only passengers, the arrival shuttle would be $90 due to the long distance from the airport however I will cover the difference for you, your cost will remain $55.
Gratuities
- Pre-paid gratuities for the cruise director and entire Avalon crew will included for everyone joining this trip=$180 savings per person.
- Local tour guides do not work for Avalon, so they are not included in the pre-paid gratuity. It’s customary though not required to leave a small tip, a simple way to show appreciation for their expertise and care.
Deposit to book your Spot
- $250 per person, nonrefundable deposit.
- If you are accepting insurance, you will need to purchase and pay for the insurance at the time of your deposit.
Final payment
- Due on or before July 19, 2027
- You can make payments along the way or in one lump sum. We have a lot of time until next summer to get your trip fully paid for.
Welcome Back Credits
- If you currently have or will have a Globus or Avalon Waterways Welcome Back Credit that is not expired, you can also apply it to your reservation. Everyone traveling on the 2026 group trip with me will earn a $250 per person Welcome Back Credit with Avalon.
Who is invited?
- Anyone that wants to join is welcome and invited!! This is a fun way to travel with a great group of people. If you or someone you know has been wanting to travel on a unique adventure share this link with them, this is going to be an incredible experience! Please contact me directly to join the group where you will receive all of the group benefits and pricing.
I'm in, how do I reserve my spot?
- Please let me if you would like a reservation form sent to secure your spot! All forms will come via DocuSign. Email: erin@travelbyerin.com or call 719-694-5454
Travel documentation
- Avalon requires that you have a full 6 months on your passport prior to expiration. For this trip you will need your passport to be valid through the end of April 2028.
- New biometric scanning at airports in Europe, to strengthen border control.
- Additionally there will be a new form that will be required to enter Europe- ETIAS. It works like a travel authorization. The cost will be around 20 Euro. When the system goes live in the final quarter of 2026 I will have more details on this for you.
