Spring Growth

Nusery, Summer term, wEEK 3

Our learning about growth became even more exciting this week when we saw our seedlings emerge from the soil and begin to grow. We have been measuring them with our fingers each day, and they are now a whole finger long!

On Wednesday, we welcomed everybody in for a story called Tap the Magic Tree, all about growth across the seasons. Thank you again to the parents who were able to come and support the children.

It’s not just the trees and plants that are growing and changing at this time of year. We now have fully formed frogs, albeit tiny ones. There has been much fascination and discussion around the frog tank.

Turning to how we ourselves grow, this week we have shifted our focus onto healthy eating. The children have learned that some foods have 'super powers' to help them grow big and strong.

We had a visitor who talked to us about fruit and vegetables and encouraged us all to 'have a try'. Food tasting was great fun!

Each day, the children's skills develop further as they grow and strengthen their bodies through play. This week, we have enjoyed dough disco, scarf and ribbon dancing, and zigzag drawing.

Zigzags on a large scale.
Collaborative writing.
Zigzags on a smaller scale, moving from left to right.
Writing with awareness of size and position.

It has been a lovely week all round, with the sunshine giving us plenty of time outdoors to move, stretch, and grow. Next Thursday, we are off on our outdoor adventure to Northumberlandia. Keep an eye on Class Dojo on Tuesday or Wednesday for further information, once we know a little more about the weather!
