Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Psalm 107:31
Soongsil University

I praise God for his wonders. In total there were 8 courses that God allowed me to attend at Soongsil University. I learned in depth about the political, social, cultural and religious aspects of the Korean peninsula, as well as the history of the Christian church, mission strategies and many other aspects.

I am thankful for every prayer you made during my time at Soongsil University, I am thankful for the life of every teacher and classmate.

What I learned will really help the ministry in NK.

This photo was the last day at the University.

Global Church

God continues to use the Global church represented in 18 nationalities to encourage the Korean church to be part of what God wants to do on the peninsula.

So the first week of June the 울산 대영 교회 church was received,

Approximately 30 church members participated in a 2-day, 1-night programme. One of the activities was to divide us into groups and in each group there was a field worker who shared his testimony.

In my group there was an NK defector who praised and thanked God for the mercy He has for his nation. The defector cried and said that God has not forsaken his people.

On the 11th of June we were visited by another church from Seoul called Hallelujah. We were able to give our testimonies, and encourage the church to be part of what God is doing through their prayers, and we also had a time of Kononia.

Hanawon (하나원)

I had the privilege to visit Hanawon 하나원

Hanawon 하나원: It is a support centre set up in 1999 by the Ministry of Unification to support the social settlement of North Korean defectors.

The place provides defectors with protection and efficient support (medical, religious, educational, etc.). The defectors stay in 하나원 for three months and are then integrated into society.

The aim of their stay in 하나원 is to help them in the process of education and adaptation as well as to stabilise their emotions, resolve cultural differences and encourage socio-economic independence.

We were not allowed to take pictures so we got a video on Youtube where you can see the facilities and the various activities that take place there.

During the tour of the facilities I was able to observe a space where there were several North Korean women learning to prepare coffee (baristas) and in another room they were learning hairdressing.

I thought it was an excellent job that this centre is doing to help the defectors to adapt. They explained to us that there are currently a total of 34,121 defectors in South Korea. According to statistics until March 2024.

In the year 2024 they received 124 defectors mainly from China and Russia.

In the middle of June we had the opportunity to go for a walk with the people we have assigned to practice the language. We went to the mountains and besides practicing the language, we had a time of koinonia. Thank God for every sister in Christ who gives her time one day a week to help us with the language.

Next step

Thank you for your prayers, last July 2nd I had the appointment at the US embassy and they denied me the visa, so I must return to Venezuela to make the visa application process at the Mexican embassy. As I informed you in the previous letter I must have 3 immigration stamps from 3 countries outside the Venezuelan territory in order to be able to make the application (in case of any doubt, please read the previous letter where I explain in detail everything about the visa).

I am waiting for an answer from a church that could receive me in Japan and a sister in Christ that could receive me in the Philippines; the objective is to obtain 2 migration stamps since I already have one. God be opening doors.

I plan to travel to Venezuela the first or second week of September.

Thank God that I had the interview on July 2nd at the US embassy and His perfect will was done.

I glorify God because He gave me the victory and I can finish the 8 courses in Soongsil University. God gave me the wisdom to finish successfully. Hallelujah!

Praise God that on the 7th, 14th and 15th of June we hosted Hallelujah Church and Ulsan Daejoung Church; we shared our testimonies with them and encouraged them to be part of what God is doing in the peninsula.

Thank you God for your life, Thank you for being with me in this mission.

How can we continue to remember me in prayer
  1. For the new beginning, I plan to leave Korea the first or second week of September, so I have to make several preparations, God help me and guide me in everything I have to do.
  2. God provide me with a good space to rent in Venezuela during my stay there
  3. God give me wisdom, strength, guidance during my training process with Pioneers.
  4. God be providing everything for the training and possible trips I must make.
  5. May I love our Lord more, with surrender. Love His Word, long for His presence, experience His joy, and be a good steward for His glory.
  6. From the 15th to the 18th of July I will be receiving a training where various topics related to the peace process in NK will be addressed. I pray that it will be a time of learning and blessing.
  7. On Friday 12th July I will be presenting my testimony in Korean. I still need to memorize some words and improve my pronunciation, so I pray that God will continue to give me wisdom in the language.
