Cash For Kids
Thanks to everyone who has managed to bring something in for the Cash For Kids collection. You can donate any new toys by leaving them under the tree in the school entrance. We will organise the drop-off of your donations on the Thursday of the last week of term so there is still time. Items need to be new and not gift wrapped. The charity will organise the gifts and wrap them after they receive them.
Food bank Collections
School Council have made a decision to collect food items for the food bank in the new year. This is the time of year when donations are low and so the children decided that it would be sensible to wait until January to start collecting. We will keep you up to date. Thanks to Rosie in Y3 and her mum for their help with this project. More information to follow!
SEMH Workshop
Thanks to all of the parents and carers who came to the SEMH session in school. We hope that it helped you to understand the Zones of Regulation and how we use them in school. If you would like more information about the zones, ask your child's class teacher. We are more than happy to send copies home if you think that would be helpful.
School Games Santa Dash
We are taking part in this Year's national Santa Dash. This involves everyone in school taking part in a very festive run at lunch time. The magic comes from knowing that this is taking place all over the country and we are helping ourselves to be fit and active!
We are planning this for the same day as the Christmas Lunch, Thursday 11th December. Children are encouraged to bring into school some festive headgear such as a Santa hat, reindeer antlers, festive hair accessories or just a woolly hat! They can be as creative as they choose to be!
We will certainly enjoy our lunch afterwards!
Staff News
We are delighted to welcome Nathaniel Brown to the staff team. Mr Brown is well known to school and also works at the after school club. He is working in Key Stage 2 and with the whole school at lunchtimes. He is a very welcome addition to the Havannah Family.
PTFA Update
Thanks to our fabulous PTFA for organising and funding a magic show for KS1 and KS2 children. This is going to be a real treat in school in the final week of term and we are very excited! The PTFA also funded the theatre trip for Reception. We are so grateful for their festive treats!
We hope everyone will be able to join us for the PTFA Christmas Fair which takes place on Monday 15th December straight after school.
Christmas Dates
The Christmas Shows take place next week: Monday 9am - Y3 Tuesday 9am - Y2 Wednesday 9am - Y1 Thursday 9am - Y4 Friday 9am - Reception Friday 2pm - Reception
We will aim to start as close to 9am as possible but sometimes it takes a little longer than planned to get everyone ready! The shows last for up to 45 minutes and entry to school is through the hall doors. If you have mobility issues or a need to have a seat, please let the office know so that we can make arrangements for you. Reception are performing their show twice because there are 90 children and therefore lots of visitors! Reception parents and carers please only come to one or the other of these shows, as you have been advised by the Reception team. For all shows, we invite two adults per child. Younger children are also welcome but please make sure that they are quiet and settled during the show so that we can hear the voices of the children who are performing.
We look forward to seeing you all!
Festive Fun Days These are the days in school where children play games, have festive snacks, dance, watch a film and generally have lots of fun! Children can wear non uniform on these days: Monday 15th - Reception Tuesday 16th - Y2 Wednesday 17th - Y1 and Y3 Thursday 18th - Y4
Reception Stay and Play Reception parents and carers are invited to stay and play with a festive theme on: Tuesday 16th - Honeybees Wednesday 17th - Ladybirds Thursday 18th - Caterpillars
All take place from drop-off time until 10.00am. We look forward to some creative festive fun!
The Choir Our Choir are singing at Morrisons on Thursday 18th at 11.00am. They also have a 'gig' at The Grainger Market on Tuesday 9th at 1.00pm. You are all welcome to pop along and see them. They are also planning a visit to Bowmont House to sing with the residents and as usual, you can expect to hear them at the start of the Christmas Fair. They will be well versed and worn out by the end of term!
Driving and Parking Around School
Please take care when driving around our site and when crossing roads. One of our children had a near miss when crossing at the Zebra crossing and was lucky that the driver stopped in time. We do not know if the driver was another parent or carer but we do know that some drivers show little consideration for the safety of our children. The dark nights and mornings make this even more urgent. Please take note and take care.
We have had further complaints from residents that parents and carers are parking on grass verges. Residents pay for the upkeep of these areas and we ask that you respect this and refrain from parking and walking on the grass areas.
Break up for Christmas Holiday
Children finish school on Friday 19th December at the usual time of 3.20pm. We will be ending the year with an in-school Christmas singalong but due to our growing numbers, this is just for children and staff.
I hope that you are all enjoying the build up to Christmas and avoiding the chaos and pressure which can be difficult to manage at this time of year. For those of you who have children who find Christmas very overwhelming and difficult, we have attached a poster from the SEMH team which you might find helpful.
We are looking forward to seeing you all at the concerts next week!
