“What no one knew at the time I joined the board was that I had a special connection to Oakridge Neighborhood. When I was in fifth grade, my family moved to Des Moines, and Oakridge Neighborhood was my home. Those years had a significant influence on me.”

Dalia Elnour

Dalia, her husband, and six children moved to the United States just over a year ago after fleeing war-torn Sudan. They connected with Oakridge Neighborhood, where they found stable housing and significant assistance with everything from their job search to driver’s education and enrolling their children in school.
