Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers, We have had another very good week in school and the pupils have benefited from a range of off-site and outside experiences again this week. Enrichment learning and opportunities play a pivotal role in the progress made by so many of our pupils. The KS3 team have been to Gyhll Head, in the Lake District this week for their annual residential. For some of our CYP this is their first experience away from parents and home. Mr Dumville, the team leader, has kept me informed of their progress and I have been really pleased with the many positive comments around pupils’ behaviour, willingness to have a go and step out of their comfort zones and their team working skills. Well done to all involved and thank you to the staff team who supported the visit from Wednesday to Friday afternoon; without them, this residential opportunity would not have been possible.
Our Lenten activities are now being reinforced daily with increased prayer opportunities, fasting and fundraising activities which the pupils are responding well to. The 40 Acts of Kindness are growing and it is lovely to see our pupils in their attempts to be selfless and in their service of others; key messages for the Lenten observance period. Can I remind parents please that School will break up for the Easter break on Thursday 2nd April at 1.30pm. Some transport teams have said they will not be able to arrive to school until the 3.10pm usual pick up time and if required we will support our pupils remaining in school until this time. Transport teams have been told of the earlier pick up time. The summer term will start on Monday 20th April at 9am. Another key date for your diary is the annual Parents Evening, which will take place on Tuesday 24th March 2026 from 4.30pm to 6pm. Please make a note of the date and time of this really important event, where you will have an opportunity to meet with teachers and class teams to discuss the progress made by your child and to look through the work that they have been undertaking this year. Spring term Interim reports will be sent to parents and carers in the penultimate week of the current half term (week ending 20th March 2026). We wish you and your families well for the weekend and the week ahead. Yours sincerely, Mr A Moloney Headteacher

- Do not give children nuts or nut products in their packed lunches.
- Do not give nuts, nut products or snacks/bars containing nuts for break time snacks.

Employee of the Week
Our Catholic School
Our focus at SJV this week:
"Disarm our language, avoiding harsh words and rash judgements... in our families, amongst our friends, at work and on social media to create space for God and others".
-Pope Leo XIV
Across the school, every class is taking part in the £10 Challenge. Each group begins with £10 and is challenged to grow it through creative fundraising ideas. The competition is friendly but full of enthusiasm, with everyone eager to raise as much as possible.
Key Stage 3 enjoyed a fantastic residential from Wednesday to Friday in the Lake District. We were very lucky to have the wonderful Father Nick join us on the trip and everyone had a truly fabulous time.
We are also continuing our 40 Acts of Kindness mission. Pupils and staff have been “fasting” from unkind words and actions and it has been heart‑warming to read the thoughtful acts of kindness being recorded each day. These small but meaningful choices are helping to build a more caring and compassionate school environment.
In RE lessons, pupils have been learning about Ramadan — how it is celebrated and the similarities and differences it shares with Lent. This has encouraged thoughtful conversations about faith, fasting, kindness and the ways different religious traditions help people grow closer to God and to one another.
