CANS Building Futures for Youth Award recipients:
Justin, Carpentry, Burridge Campus
"My late grandfather was a carpenter, and my dad also does all kinds of projects around our 145 year old house, so I gained hands on experience from both of them from an early age. I hope to one day get my red seal certification and open my own construction company. Receiving this award will remove the worry about how I will pay for my first year of school. It will allow me to graduate with less student loan debt which I am most grateful for. Thank you so very much for this award! It is so appreciated and will be put to good use."
Noah, Electrical Construction and Industrial, Ivany Campus
"Throughout my life I have always been taking things apart and putting them back together. I also helped my mother with electrical and plumbing repairs around the house and also helped her fix lawnmowers, vacuums, etc. This showed me how capable I was at learning to complete these repairs and began my interest in the Trades. NSCC is the perfect fit for my needs. This award will enable me to attend post-secondary training and continue my education without additional financial worries. This represents the first step in achieving my goal of becoming a red seal certified electrician. Thank you so much for this award. I am very grateful for the generous support."

"Without a doubt this award will have a significant impact, first, because it is an important relief on the financial pressure that means living and studying with no possibilities to work and receive an income, and also, it is a great incentive to continue striving to have the best outcomes during this educational journey. I'm very grateful for receiving this award and I want to tell the donor that they are not only helping me in my road to complete the educational program, but they're also helping my whole family to walk through our immigration process to hopefully become a contributor to this province."
"My goals are to perform during my future working experience in a responsible, ethical and professional way, and to be recognized for being reliable and for doing my job well. But most important, in my personal life my goal is to raise my children with values and principles that help them overcome the challenges that adult life brings, and these awards are for me a possibility to teach them that discipline, effort and perseverance are important values that will help them to face future obstacles."
David Oulton Memorial Scholarship recipient:

"This award will help alleviate some financial worries regarding the course. It will give me more peace of mind to focus on my course and continue to achieve the excellence that I have set as a precedent. I see this award as recognition for all the hard work I've put in so far. It also serves as an incentive for me to continue doing an excellent job. I am deeply honored to receive this award and would like to express my gratitude to the donors. I must also say that, after learning more about David Oulton, I had a glimpse of the importance of my profession and how much impact it has on the community. Thank you for your generosity, encouragement, and support. I will never forget this recognition and will always try to honor David Oulton's legacy in everything I do."
"NSCC was first recommended to me by a friend. I've always been interested in the construction industry; I have a degree in architecture in Brazil. This friend of mine told me about NSCC's Construction Management course and all the interesting things I could learn from it. When I started researching I realized that the course was everything my friend had said and more. The respect and recognition that the institution has in the construction industry is invaluable. I know I made the right choice when I decided to study construction management at NSCC."
