It's hard to pigeonhole Aziza's EP Haouaz Gun, as much for its diverse musical influences as for its themes. Aziza questions her disconnection, some of our society's ills and even honors the ancestors. And finally, how can she find her place in all this? Just as she shares her personal quests, Aziza invites us to question ourselves, as individuals marked and shaped by our sick society and by an individual and collective past. The EP swings between softness and firmness, between soulful vocals and electric guitars, between percussions and soaring atmospheres. From soul to rock, from traditional rythms to groove, this EP is an invitation to return to ourselves, from the depths of our memories to the celebration of our wholeness. Our perfect imperfection. This EP was recorded and arranged with Théo Teboul on drums and percussions, Diego Higueras on guitars and Morgan Le Grelle on rec and mix.
Aziza is the eponymous project of the singer/bass player Aziza François. Based in Brussels since her 18th, the belgo-chadian artist was inspired by a lot of different musical genres and artists (soul, hiphop, electro, traditional music etc...). Her music is infused with various influences from her mixed roots and past. She started her personal project in 2021 alongside Diego Higueras (g) and Théo Teboul (dr). This ex formula goes more into soul-rock and grunge sonorities like the sound of the EP. Her solo formula invites you into a soulful universe and intimistic vocal experiment.
