Menorca June 2023

Menorca during early June is really nice. The weather can be a little unpredictable, but overall, it's warm but not so humid. The intense color of the water is like a siren's song to take a dip, but the water temperature is on the invigorating side. The crowds are just starting to arrive, so the peak season hasn't quite swung into action and it's very pleasant.

Taking the night ferry to Ciutadella that arrives just before 7am allows for a full day of beaches and hiking. At that early hour, you get a chance to see the city quiet, without the crowds.

Cala Macarella and Macarelleta are two of the most popular beaches in Menorca. They are now only accessible by bus 69 from Ciutadella. The bus is relatively small, and the schedule is not very convenient. Buying your ticket online the day before absolutely necessary to secure your place at the time that you want to leave.

Cala Galdana has one of the biggest beaches is Menorca and is like an enormous swimming pool. Just a 25-minute hike along Cami de Cavall to the east is Cala Mitjana, one of the most beautiful places to swim, snorkel, kayak, and hike to some of the most amazing views.

In the north part of the island is a unique beach experience. About a 25-minute hike from Parking Cala Binimel.là is the remote golden sand beach of Cala Pregonda.

One of the easier beaches to access is Platja de Son Saura with free parking and close access to the beach. The sand is like sugar and the water is crystalline. Just a 10 to 15-minute hike to the east is Cala de Talaier, which has a small white sand beach with the most intense turquoise water.

One of the coolest places in Menorca is Cova d'en Xoroi in Cala en Porter. The bar and chill out areas are suspended on a cliff with a nightclub inside the expansive cave.

One of the most popular places to view the sunset is at the Punta Nati Lighthouse in the northwest corner of the island. The cliffs are dramatic and intensely rugged. Parking is about a 10-minute walk from the lighthouse.

The food in Menorca is amazing. One of the most exquisite dishes is Caldereta de Langosta, a lobster stew that is prepared in a clay pot. It's very expensive and is the perfect dish for a very special occasion.

An afternoon snack or "merienda" would not be complete without tasting the amazing Menorcan baked goods. The crema quemada ensaïmada from Cas Sucrer in Es Mercadal is to die for.
