**IB Primary Years Program Evaluation Report**
For the 22-23 school year, Riffenburgh underwent a rigorous evaluation of our IB program. Our evaluators produced a final report with their findings and we wanted to share some of those findings out to our community! We will highlight one finding each newsletter. There are several standards of practice that IB looks for when doing an evaluation. Over the next month, we will focus on what they found in the Standard: Purpose: Sharing an Important Mission.
Purpose 2: The school's pedagogical leadership team (all educators at Riffenburgh) embraces educational approaches that encourage students to become active, compassionate, lifelong learners.
The school leadership and staff are qualified and committed to the school's purpose, and engage in ongoing professional development that promotes student learning.
**Check out more about our IB program through our school website!

Reporting Student Absences
Parents can report their student's absences by calling the Riffenburgh Attendance Line 970-488-7936 or via ParentVUE (see instructions below)
Reporting Absences Thru ParentVUE
Why Use ParentVUE for Absences
If a student is not attending school for the day or series of days, the parent has the ability to document this absence in ParentVUE instead of making a call and leaving a voicemail to the attendance clerk.
How to Enter an Absence
• Log in to ParentVUE
• Click on “Report Absences” (listed on the left side panel)
• Mark either ‘E for Excused’ or ‘EI for Excused Illness’. You can submit the attendance for a single date or a range of dates by clicking on each day. (Future absences are not visible in PVUE until the date of the absence.)
• Please leave comment in the note section, explaining the absence.
• Click Save
Please let the Attendance Office know about ALL absences even if you have alerted the Classroom Teacher.

Odyssey of the Mind Presentation
A representative from Odyssey of the Mind will visit Riffenburgh on October 16th from 6-7 pm. Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving program that allows students to work on a predefined long-term problem that takes many months to complete and involves writing, design, construction, and theatrical performance. During the Odyssey of the Mind competition, students will also compete in spontaneous problem solving. Odyssey of the Mind is available to all grade levels. To learn more about this opportunity for your children or to get more information about being a parent/caregiver volunteer, please attend our informational meeting in the Media Center on October 16th at 6 pm. You can read more about Odyssey of the Mind here:
FUN RUN ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6TH
Our annual Fun Run will be on Friday, October 6th, and we have officially kicked off fundraising! Your student should have received a packet in their Friday Folder with information about registering. Please help us reach our goal of raising $40,000 by October 6th! To register your student:
STEP 1: Go to
STEP 2: Click “Not Registered For This Year’s Event”
STEP 3: Enter your name and email address, then click “Submit”
STEP 4: Follow the instructions on-screen to register Runner(s) and add family and friends
What does the PTO do with the money that's raised? We put it all back into the school in the form of grade-level allowances (so our staff to buy supplies as needed), educational materials, new books for our library, Eco Experience for 5th graders, and so much more! Our biggest project currently is continuing to raise funds for the creation of our Makers' Lab. Learn more about how our PTO supports Riffenburgh here.
Stay tuned for the Fun Run schedule so that you can cheer on your Roadrunner on Friday, October 6th. Additionally, we will need volunteers to help mark laps and pass out water. That sign-up will be coming soon.
