From the Curator’s Desk
April marks a season of renewal—both outside our windows and within the Museum. As we welcome spring, we are also opening our doors to a new exhibit season filled with meaningful stories, vibrant displays, and exciting progress. This month, we are proud to debut our first traveling exhibit of the season, explore a milestone anniversary in local broadcasting history, and showcase the artistry of a talented regional quilting group. At the same time, we continue to see incredible advancements through our Bridging the Past, Building for the Future Grant projects, helping us create a more accessible and welcoming space for all. We look forward to celebrating these moments with you—whether at our Member Opening Reception, during your next visit, or over a cup of tea at our upcoming Spring Tea event. Thank you for being part of our community and helping us bring history to life.
Opening Exhibit: Declaration of Independence – The Big Bang of Modern Democracy
We are thrilled to launch our 2026 exhibit season with our first traveling display, Declaration of Independence: The Big Bang of Modern Democracy. This powerful exhibit invites visitors to explore the origins and global impact of one of history’s most influential documents
Through engaging panels and thoughtful interpretation, the exhibit examines how the ideals set forth in 1776 continue to shape democratic movements around the world today.
Celebrating a Local Broadcasting Legacy
Step back in time and tune in to the history of local radio as we celebrate WFHR's milestone anniversary. This exhibit highlights the station’s role in connecting the community, sharing news, and shaping local culture over the decades. Visitors will enjoy a nostalgic look at broadcasting history and the voices that helped define it.

Stitched Through Time
The Brazeau Gallery is brightened this season with beautiful quilts on display from the Material Girls Quilting Club of Wisconsin Rapids. Each piece tells a story through fabric, color, and craftsmanship—honoring both tradition and creativity. This special display complements our broader themes of history, community, and artistic expression.
Bridging the Past, Building for the Future Project Update
We are excited to share continued progress on our Accessibility Grant improvements, made possible by the Legacy Foundation of Central Wisc:
- The ramp and steps leading to the lower parking area are now complete, improving accessibility to the Museum grounds and the Ahdawagam walking trail.
- The second-floor bathroom project has been completed, providing enhanced amenities for visitors.
- Final finishing touches are underway in the main-level bathroom, bringing this phase of the project close to completion.
These updates represent a significant step forward in making the Museum more accessible and welcoming for all.
