Can you believe we’ve already wrapped up the first six weeks of school? Time is flying, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings! Between National Dance Day and our vibrant Hispanic Heritage Celebración, we were recently reminded just how amazing our school community is. 🎉💃🌎¿Pueden creer que ya terminamos las primeras seis semanas de clases? ¡El tiempo vuela y estamos ansiosos por ver qué nos depara el resto del año! Parent Self Serve
To stay informed about important campus updates, please follow the instructions below to make sure your contact information is accurate and opted in to receive messaging. This ensures you receive timely messages from your child’s school. Para mantenerse informado sobre las novedades importantes del campus, siga las instrucciones a continuación para asegurarse de que su información de contacto sea correcta y esté suscrito a la recepción de mensajes. Esto le garantiza recibir mensajes puntuales de la escuela de su hijo/a.
- Log into Parent Self Serve and select the “Edit Contact Info” tab. Inicie sesión en Parent Self Serve y seleccione la pestaña “Editar información de contacto”.
- Select the “Edit” button to update phone numbers and email addresses. Seleccione el botón “Editar” para actualizar los números de teléfono y las direcciones de correo electrónico.
- You must select the “Make Private:” option to “No” and enable the “Alert” checkbox to receive phone calls and text messages from our campus. Hispanic Heritage Celebration October 4
In partnership with the Arlington Latino Advisory Council, the City of Arlington will host a Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Saturday, October 4. Students are invited to participate in a flag parade as part of the event. If your child is interested in joining, please complete this linked form.

Celebrating Student Attendance
September is National Attendance Awareness Month! We are celebrating the importance of being at school every day and on time. Good attendance helps students build strong learning habits, friendships, and success for the future.
Our goal this school year is to ensure that every student attends school regularly. As we wrapped up the end of the 6 weeks, I’m excited to announce this year’s attendance incentives. Jones Academy is dedicated to providing the best educational experience possible for your children. To do this we need your children here at school as much as possible. This takes support from everyone, from the students, to parents and the school.
Jones Academy is doing its part by implementing the “STARS” attendance program. (Students with Top Attendance Reflect Success) At Jones Academy, we want to help students get excited about coming to school everyday! Below are details of the main incentives we will be providing throughout the year.
Individual
Students who have an attendance rate of 93% or higher at the end of each 6 weeks will receive a special Attendance Brag Tag! The brag tag design will change every 6 weeks, so students can collect a new one each time. Attendance percentages start fresh at the beginning of each new grading period—so every student has a new chance to earn one!
Group
At the end of the 6 weeks, the class with the highest attendance rate within each grade level, will receive snacks from the office.
We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances. But, we also know that when students miss too much school— regardless of the reason – it can cause them to fall behind academically. We don’t want your child to fall behind in school and get discouraged. Please ensure that your child attends school every day and arrives on time. Here are a few practical tips to help support regular attendance:
- Make sure your children keep a regular bedtime and establish a morning routine.
- Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
- Ensure your students go to school every day unless they are truly sick.
- Avoid scheduling vacations or doctor’s appointments when school is in session.
Breakfast & Lunch Visitors 🍎🥪
Now that our students have learned the cafeteria routines and expectations, we are excited to welcome breakfast and lunch visitors. Please help us reinforce cafeteria expectations: Ahora que nuestros estudiantes han aprendido las rutinas y expectativas de la cafetería, nos complace dar la bienvenida a los visitantes del desayuno y el almuerzo. Ayúdenos a reforzar las expectativas de la cafetería:
- Visitors will sit at the visitor table only with their child—not with other children or their friends. Los visitantes se sentarán en la mesa de visitas sólo con su hijo, no con otros niños o sus amigos.
- Students should not share food with others. Los estudiantes no deben compartir comida con otros.
- Students should remain in their seats and raise their hands if they need assistance. Los estudiantes deben permanecer en sus asientos y levantar la mano si necesitan ayuda.
- To help manage noise, students should use an indoor voice (Level 1) and converse only with a friend next to or across from them. Para ayudar a controlar el ruido, los estudiantes deben usar un tono de voz interior (Nivel 1) y conversar solo con un amigo que esté a su lado o frente a ellos.

Educational Student Travel
I am excited to share that one of AISD's dedicated teachers, Ms. Jessica Ortiz, will be leading two amazing student travel opportunities in 2027 through EF Educational Tours. These experiences are open to students in our district, and I encourage you to learn more about them. Please note: This is a non-school or district sponsored trip. Me complace anunciar que una de las dedicadas maestras de AISD, la Sra. Jessica Ortiz, organizará dos increíbles viajes estudiantiles en 2027 a través de EF Educational Tours. Estas experiencias están abiertas a los estudiantes de nuestro distrito y los invito a conocerlas mejor. Nota: Este viaje no está patrocinado por la escuela ni el distrito.
Educational travel provides students with the chance to explore new destinations, immerse themselves in different cultures, and build lifelong skills such as independence, resilience, and confidence. I truly believe these opportunities enrich a child’s education in ways that extend far beyond the classroom. Volunteer Sign Up
Many hands make light work and we love our volunteers. We depend on our parents and volunteers to help make the best learning environment that we can for our kids. We encourage you to be an approved volunteer to help make a difference at school, sponsor fine arts events, chaperone field trips and work with students. All volunteers must submit an online application (every year) and upload a copy of your unexpired government-issued photo ID to the volunteer application.
Muchas manos facilitan el trabajo y amamos a nuestros voluntarios. Dependemos de nuestros padres y voluntarios para ayudar a crear el mejor ambiente de aprendizaje posible para nuestros hijos. Jones Performance Shirt
If your student will be in any of our choirs or is in 5th grade performing arts, they’ll need a black performance shirt. It’s the same shirt as last year, so if it still fits, no need to purchase a new one. The deadline to order is October 1. $15!
