GLIMPSES OF THE SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

DANCE PRESENTATION

“Dancing is surely the most basic of relevant of all forms of expression. Nothing else can so effectively give outward form to an inner experience”. – Lyall Watson

During the much-awaited summer break our tiny tots were given a very creatively designed holiday homework which was based on the theme Pancha Kosha Vikas. In this a number of activities based on various phases of a child's development, appropriate experiences that support their interest in exploration, experimentation, and self-direction were given. These experiences were driven with happiness that led to enriching experiences.

A very important element of Pancha Kosha Vikas is Annamaya Kosha which is physical development. Based on this theme children were given a list of dance numbers and were asked to learn and present these dance steps on anyone song of their choice as we believe that dance not only nurtures physical coordination but also fosters creativity, confidence, and self-expression. So, as a follow-up on 19th and 20th July we organised a dance presentation to witness the extraordinary talent and exuberance of our young dancers.

Our little stars of Nursery and KG class worked diligently and passionately to create a mesmerizing performance and left everyone spellbound.

LIFE SKILL

CARING - JULY

“Children are not things to be molded but are people to be unfolded.”

Care is another form of love. Caring allows an individual to connect with others, respecting human dignity and responding with compassion. Actively listening and being emotionally present, as well as providing support, are important aspects of a caring relationship. One of the biggest reasons being caring is so important is that it gives us the ability to help others and understand when others are in need. “Caring means you are willing to put the needs of others first. Children will be able to understand their moral duty to care for one another. Being kind to others, sharing with others, being considerate of others' feelings by using the words "please" and "thank you," having compassion for the less fortunate, and forgiving someone who has wronged you are just a few examples of how to be caring.

HONESTY - AUGUST

“The first step towards an abundant life!”

Honesty means we are truthful in what we say and do. It means people can rely on us because we have integrity. Honesty is the basis of a trusting relationship. It helped children in setting and recognizing limits, communicating ideas honestly and politely, and creating lasting connections. It serves as the cornerstone of our relationships' trust. We must instil in our children the value of honesty and the necessity for respectful, kind, and sincere communication. Working through the Pillars of Honesty:

  • Accountability- The first step to being honest is owning your actions. Below write down one way you are accountable for yourself. (Ex: Putting my own sparring bag in the car).
  • Integrity- Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Below, write down one moral or value you never compromise on. (Ex: I am always honest when it comes to chores).
  • Courage- Courage is the ability to face your fears.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL: LIFE ON LAND

“Our school is a happy place where we learn, play, and protect our planet together."

At Salwan Montessori School, we have a special mission to care for nature. Our little Salwanians plant seeds and water plants, just like they take care of their toys. They learnt about animals and their homes, taking care of strays, etc.

They understood the cleanliness around them. They pick up trash and keep their surroundings clean. Through story time they were sensitized about life on land. They drew colorful pictures of animals and trees, shared their importance with their friends and families. Through fun games, they realized that when they look after nature, they're like superheroes for the Earth!

PARENTING TIPS SHARED EVERY DAY

  • "Discipline should be a means to guide, not to instil fear." - Discipline, when approached thoughtfully, serves as a guiding compass for children rather than a source of fear. It's essential for parents to recognize that discipline is about teaching them the difference between right and wrong, helping them develop self-control and decision-making skills. By emphasizing guidance over fear, parents create an environment where children can learn and grow while feeling safe, respected, and supported in their journey towards responsible adulthood.
  • "Patience isn't about enduring but embracing the magical moments of discovery with your young child." - Patience in parenting isn't just toughing it out; it's diving into the enchanting journey of discovery with your child. It's finding joy in every slow or crazy moment, basking in their wonder. Through patience, you turn everyday situations into treasured memories, making the ordinary truly magical for both you and your child.
  • "The greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence." - Denis Waitley - As parents, the most valuable gifts we can give our children is guiding them to be accountable for their actions, teaching reliability and self-discipline. At the same time, nurture their confidence and resilience by allowing them space to explore, learn, and develop their unique abilities. These gifts will prepare them for a successful and fulfilling journey in life.
  • "Blend love and discipline, ignite curiosity, and nurture trust through open communication." - It's essential to strike a balance between being affectionate and setting boundaries to provide a stable environment for your child's growth. Nurture their curiosity and love for learning to cultivate a lifelong passion for education.
