Capitol Rideshare hosts out-of-state visitor
In January, Capitol Rideshare’s Mary Marshall hosted Veronica Jarvis, the senior transportation demand management (TDM) planner for Thurston Regional Planning Council, based in Olympia, WA. Veronica is Mary’s counterpart at her program in Olympia. She visited to learn more about Arizona’s Travel Reduction Program; she was specifically interested in the state’s successful Remote Work Program. Veronica and Mary are members of the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT), a trade association for TDM professionals. Veronica serves on the ACT national board of directors and Mary just finished her seventh year serving on the Valley of the Sun regional chapter board. The ACT National Board of Directors is hosting its quarterly meeting in Phoenix this week, which provided Mary the opportunity to share the successes of the State of Arizona’s Travel Reduction Program, branded as Capitol Rideshare. Veronica and Mary have worked together on ACT projects, and this was their first opportunity to meet in person. Veronica asked for the chance to visit the Capitol Mall and learn more about TRP offerings. Mary took Veronica to visit Arizona’s Connected Workspace, the state-of-the-art coworking facility at 1400 W. Washington. Shelley Witt, the ACW administrator, provided a tour and answered questions about the facilities. The group ran into General Services Division’s (GSD’s) Ruben Duran, who shared a quick overview of the scope of the project that developed the workspace. Mary took Veronica on a walking tour of the Capitol and described how employees have access to fully subsidized bus cards, then shared information about the bus routes and schedule. At the end of the walking tour, Veronica boarded the DASH bus and headed back to her hotel in downtown Phoenix.

Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program
2026 Notice to Employees
Arizona law (A.R.S. § 49-588(B)) requires all large employers in non-attainment areas (defined in statute, A.R.S. § 49-541) to notify their employees of the Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) requirements (A.R.S. § 49-542). To comply with this mandate, staff posts the annual VEIP notice to the Capitol Rideshare website.
