Dear Parents,
I hope you are enjoying the summer weather this week and the last couple of days of the holiday. We have a few more pieces of information from our teachers to share with you following our INSET days.
We apologise for the delivery issues with last Friday's Headteacher's Update email. There was a problem with Gmail as well as with our system. If you have not seen the communication yet, you can find it on the website here.
I hope to see lots of you for a coffee in the sunshine tomorrow during morning drop off. Refreshments will be served on the decking behind the main house and you will be able to take your child to their class if you would like to.
Uniform This Week
- Due to the unusually high temperatures this week, children in Years 3 to 6 do not need to bring their blazers and ties to school with them.
- Please ensure that children across the whole school have a hat, a water bottle and wear sun cream.
- Full uniform should be worn from next Monday 11 September unless we communicate otherwise before the weekend.
- Please check that all pieces of uniform are named.
Games, PE, Swimming and Fixtures Update
We have an update to the schedule for Games sessions at Sulhamstead, PE lessons, Swimming at The Oratory and fixtures. Please note that Games starts this week but Swimming does not start until next week.
- Mondays - Games for Reception and Year 1
- Tuesdays - Games for Years 5 & 6 and Swimming for Years 2 & 3
- Wednesdays - Games or fixtures for Years 5 & 6, PE for Years 3 & 4 and Swimming for Reception & Year 1
- Thursdays - Games for Years 2-4
- Fridays - Games or fixtures for Years 2-4, PE for Years 5 & 6
Nursery Start Time and Pick Up
An update to the Nursery start time following Friday's email - the Nursery opens from 8am each day. It is only Breakfast Club for Reception to Year 6 that opens at 7.45am. Apologies for the incorrect information.
For parents picking their children up at 1pm, please now wait at the gate on Western Elms Avenue. After-school pick up will be from the side gate of the main house with Mrs Turner.
Year 2 Finish Time
Year 2 will now finish school at 3.55pm alongside our Prep pupils. This is following updates to our timetables that allow more time with Prep and the development of our sports provision for girls.
Year 4 Devices
The one-to-one devices for the Year 4 Digital Scheme are due to arrive during the week of 18 September. There has been a slight delay from BT and we will keep you updated. Lessons will continue as normal until the transition to the new devices when they arrive.
After-School Provision and Buses This Week
A reminder to inform us if you would like your child to attend day boarding this week, if you have not already booked them a place. If your child gets the school bus and normally stays until 5.50pm, please let us know if you would like them to come home on the earlier bus this week. Contact alison.russell@stedwardsprep.com or call the School Office (0118 9574342) if you would like to update your bookings.
Site Update Photos
Now that the spaces are ready, I am happy to share some photos of the new Reception classroom and the refurbished Boys' Toilets. Thank you to everyone who worked on these over the summer to help us provide the best possible facilities for our children.
Roadworks in the Area
There are a number of roadworks underway which may cause some delays over the coming weeks. Please check information from the council for the latest updates and be patient if our school buses are affected. Current closures from the town centre include Coley Avenue, Bath Road to Brownlow Road and from the Police Station up to Castle Hill.
See you all tomorrow.
Best wishes,
Jonathan
