Council Meeting

The next regular City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube, ConnectwithTC.

Youth Committee

To learn about local government and to keep up with community matters, the Youth Committee members attended the Transportation and Public Safety Commission meeting on September 13, the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on September 20, the Neighborhood Watch Meeting on September 21, the City Council Special meeting on September 25, and the Planning Commission meeting on September 26. Committee members will report out on the items that were discussed by the commissions as part of their monthly meeting.

Centennial Celebration: Classic Car Show & Parade

Fun for all! There is something for everyone at the Centennial Celebration TCUSD Fall Festival and Car Show on Saturday, September 30th, with the parade starting at 9:00am along Las Tunas Dr. and celebration activities from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Temple City Park. Festival-goers will delight in dazzling entertainment presented by the Temple City High School Visual and Performing Arts Department, eye-catching classic cars, information and craft booths, delicious food trucks, a silent auction, raffle, arts and crafts, Kids’ Zone (including inflatables), and a centennial celebration parade and much more! COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT

The Community Development Department has released its monthly report for August 2023.

Building permit valuation in August 2023 was 61% higher than 2022. Fees collected in August 2023 were also higher than August 2022 – an 74% increase. 234 permits were issued in August 2023, which was 64% higher than the number of permits issued in August 2022. All the significant permits issued in August 2023 were for accessory dwelling units (ADUs).

Planning received 15 new applications in August 2023. These included 7 ADU applications, 2 applications for house additions, 3 applications for new single-family residences, a tentative parcel map for a flag lot subdivision, a conditional use permit to expand a restaurant, and a conditional use permit to operate a tutoring business.

Six business licenses were issued in August. They included an eye lash establishment, 3 restaurants, a barber shop, and a retail establishment.

Community Preservation continued to be active in August 2023. So far this year, the number of cases opened were 15% higher than the previous year. 68% of the cases opened in August were initiated by the inspector, with 28% initiated by the public.
