Jingi Walla - Welcome!
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung nation. We are grateful for the winding creek - Balun - and the Bangalow Palm trees, that are not just pretty but also a source of food, water and materials for the Arakwal people. We are thankful we can learn whilst we play on this land. We respect and love our Jugan - land. We treat all elders with jarima (pronounced Garima) - respect. We will take action to protect, unite and connect with Country.

principal's message
End of Term 3
We are almost at the end of another busy term, one filled with many fantastic student achievements. We are looking forward to finishing another wonderful week, highlighted by our Art Trail this afternoon. Our students have been hard at work all term on their art, so we welcome all parents, caregivers, families and guests along between 4pm and 6pm to view our students’ inspirational art. Enjoy a snack (thanks to the P&C) and mingle with others for a little as well. This will be a wonderful afternoon, so please be sure to come along. A very special thanks to Miss Jenevieve for coordinating and working with all students and staff on each of the pieces of art, Mark for helping to hang and display the pieces, Miss Stelling-Wood for putting together the Art Trail book, and to each of my staff members who have helped with completing student artwork, displaying work, and staying behind to ensure that students and community members get to enjoy the evening. What a team!
Admin Team Move
Thank you for your understanding as we moved out of the old administration block this week, and into the newly refurbished administration block. We still have a while to be fully settled, but the space is lovely. Please ensure that you now come to the heritage building when needing the office, or to sign in.
Staffing News
This Friday we bid farewell to Mrs Sharp for a little while, as she goes off to have her baby. We are all very excited to meet bub one day soon. Miss Kilner will be taking over as class teacher for Term 4. We welcome her to Bangalow Public School.
Term 4
I hope that everyone enjoys a safe, happy and relaxing upcoming school term break, and that we all return refreshed and ready to conquer Term 4. If you are travelling, please do so with care. Term 4 commences for students and staff on Monday 9 October.

class of the week - jingrrd-jingrrd (1/2e)
This term has been full of so many great learning experiences in Jingrrd Jingrrd! We cannot wait to share them all with you!
In Digital Technology, we have been learning how to code vertically and horizontally. We have been working in pairs, sharing our ideas, and reflecting to refine the investigative process. Our final challenge was to program the Bee Bots to follow a track through a maze. We needed to measure distances and accurately code the Bee Bots to ensure a safe passage.
In Geography, we have been learning all about the importance of our local community, what makes it special and our place within it. We have also been investigating the states that make up Australia and its capital cities. We are adventurous learners in Jingrrd Jingrrd, so we made suitcases to show all that we have learnt about the land down under!
In Mathematics, we have loved being able to utilise our new white board tables to demonstrate our thinking and tackle challenging problems. We have been using our knowledge of landmark numbers to help us solve large addition problems. We have also started learning about arrays and how they can help us understand groups of numbers and even develop our understanding of area!
Science has been so much fun this term! With the help of Ms Thomas, we were able to design our own smart farms in Science Week! We were connected learners and collaborated in our learning teams to plan and create our smart farms. We have also loved sharing our flexible learning space with Wajung this term. We have been learning all about sound and light and have undertaken experiments to better understand sound and light, how it is formed, and reflecting on our discoveries!
Some highlights of this term have been, parading around as our favourite book characters for Book Week, being inspired by amazing illustrators and authors at the Writer's Festival and being drenched in colour for the Fun Run!!!

general enrolment
As the year quickly draws near to end, we ask you to please inform the school as soon as possible if you know that your child will not be at Bangalow PS next year. We know and understand that sometimes students must change schools for various reasons, including moving away, but we rely on accurate enrolment information to form the basis of our staffing and class organisation. You can do this by calling the office or sending in an email. We appreciate your help in this matter.

lost property
All lost property will be disposed of TOMORROW afternoon before the holidays. Please take the time to look for any items that might belong to your family. There are lots of jumpers, drink bottles and lunch boxes in the area outside the canteen.

state dancers
Last week our four State Dancers performed with their Far North Coast Regional Ensemble at the State Dance Festival at the Seymour Centre in Sydney. It was a brilliant showcase of the talent of students and teachers in both choreography and performance from across primary and secondary settings in public schools from across NSW. We are incredibly proud of Anais F, Mila B, Fin R and Reuben E who represented our school at this level.

new payment system coming soon
We are excited to announce our school will be transitioning to the School Bytes finance system on 24 October 2023!
In preparation for the transition to a simplified finance system for both you and the school, we will be required to implement a short payment lockout period where we will not be able to receive any payments.
What this means for you
- No payments can be made online from 9am, Tuesday 17 October 2023.
- Last day to make cash, cheque or EFTPOS payments will be at 1pm on Wednesday 18 October 2023.
- We will advise you when payments can resume closer to the above date.
- Any existing payment links that have been sent to you previously in emails can still be used after the transition and will automatically redirect to the new system.
- After the transition, a School Bytes portal will be available for you to register and begin using (https://portal.schoolbytes.education).
- All previous payments made will be migrated to the new School Bytes finance system and portal.
- Moving forward, when making a payment online, you will be redirected to a Service NSW page to complete an online payment. This is the new payment platform for online as directed by the NSW Department of Education.
- Payments made online will display as 0SCHOOLSONLINE 0000 PARRAMATTA AUS on your bank statements moving forward.
What is the School Bytes portal?
The School Bytes portal provides flexibility for you to conveniently:
- Make school payments online (including paying for multiple siblings at once)
- Use a family credit to pay for an activity or school contributions
- Download a receipt for payments made
- View all historical payments in one place
- Complete and submit digital permission notes
- View the status of all permission notes
- Request a refund if required
This can be done where you want at any time: day or night.
Through the portal, you will easily be able to download a receipt once a payment has been made and have access to view all historical payments when needed. Online payments are processed in real-time and can be viewed by school staff immediately.
While our preference is for payments to be made via the portal, we will still accept payment via cash, cheque, money order and EFTPOS.

is your child celebrating a birthday?
If you would like to send something for your child to share with their classmates, please only send in purchased 99-100% juice ice blocks, as many of our students have allergies to various substances that could trigger an anaphylactic reaction. It is for this reason that we also ask that students do not share their food with other children.
Any ice blocks sent to school should already be frozen or they will not be ready for distribution on the day. An acceptable brand is Berri Quelch ice blocks (please note we are unable to distribute Frosty Fruits or Lemonade Icy Poles). Thanks for your cooperation - the safety of all students is our first priority.

visiting our school?
ALL visitors to our school are expected to SIGN IN at our front office on arrival. This is standard practice across all schools, and ensures we can support your safety if there is an emergency.
The best way to sign in is by scanning the QR code on the front window and completing the relevant details. If you don't have a smart phone or mobile reception, we do have an iPad kiosk for you to use. Unfortunately, this device can be somewhat temperamental; if the iPad is not working, one of our office staff will sign you in (they will need your name and phone number).
Please also be aware that ALL parent helpers need to have completed a volunteer declaration form (you only need to do this once while you have children enrolled at our school). Many thanks to everyone who has done this; if you would like to check if you have completed one, just phone our office.
