The MHS Student Council enjoyed their annual retreat August 19-20th at Camp Neyati, located in Lake, Michigan. The 39 members became part of this group through an application and election process in April 2023. The annual retreat is an opportunity for the council members to build relationships through team building and leadership activities and plan for the upcoming school year. This year they were joined by MPS Superintendent, Penny Miller-Nelson, and MHS Principal Tiela Schurman.
The mission statement of the MHS Student Council is:
We, the Student Council of Midland High School, in order to develop a more united student body, are dedicated to:
- Advocating for and maintaining a safe and positive learning experience for all students and staff.
- Promoting and creating school activities to enhance school pride and a tradition of excellence.
- Contributing a voice to represent our school.
- Remaining an approachable organization and considering input from those within Midland.
- Commending achievements of our diverse student body.
By striving to meet these goals, we will develop a unified student body and improve Midland High School.
