Students Help Plant Willow Trees Along Ashbell Brook

Learning Through Community Service

Students in grades 6-8 recently volunteered their time to help plant willow trees along Ashbell Brook, which runs through school property at Otselic Valley. The trees were provided through the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation with assistance from Board of Education member Mike Foor-Pessin. As the willow trees mature, they will help stabilize the stream bank and reduce erosion along the brook.

Projects like this help students see how small efforts can make a big difference in caring for the environment and our community.

Otselic Valley thanks the students who volunteered their time and effort to support this project.
