Principal's Message
Lake Pleasant Families,
I would like to start this week with a big THANK YOU for our hard-working PTA who hosted our first movie night. It was great to see SO many of our families enjoying a night under the stars on our campus. I was able to have conversations with many of you and enjoyed meeting you. We look forward to providing many other opportunities for us to gather as a school community and enjoy some time together.
This week on announcements I shared the quote "It takes courage to be kind," and set an expectation that students should try and make kind statements to each other. This quote illustrates the significance of showing kindness even when faced with challenges or struggles. Encouraging students to engage in kind interactions necessitates not only empathy but also the courage to stand up against negativity or peer pressure. It points out that choosing kindness may require bravery, as it may involve going against what other peers are saying or standing up for what is right while everyone else might be doing wrong. This perspective highlights the importance of fostering a positive and safe school environment. I had them imagine what coming to school would be like if everyone treated each other with smiles and kindness...it would be pretty awesome! Kindness is something I strive to model as a leader each day for our staff and students. I closed with the notion that while each student's journey towards kindness may differ, some may find it more challenging to summon the courage to do so than others, but everyone CAN do it.
After a tough day this was on my desk and just made me smile and had to share. Thank you to a first grader who wrote such a nice letter and drew such an accurate picture of me including the radio in my ear and on my hip!
Have a great week Silverhawks!

DONATIONS REQUESTED FOR OUR "SOAR" STORE
At LPE we do our best to identify and reward students for their positive behaviors by giving them "SOAR" cards. S.O.A.R. is an acronym for "Safe, Organized, Aware, Responsible". When students are caught by staff "SOAR"ing they are given a card that they can redeem at the SOAR store.
This week we will begin selling items to students based on grade level so be on the lookout for your child's turn at the store!
We are continuing the work to get the store stocked and would love for those in our community who are able and willing to donate items towards this store. Please take a look at the items on the Amazon Wish list or we could use food items such as chips, cookies, Gatorade etc.
The store is organized and run by some of our Junior High students along with some teacher sponsors. We are able to provide many real life learning opportunities through this program. Thanks in for supporting this program!
THANK YOU!
Thank you Nicole Hinphy for the awesome donation! We know our students are going to love these cute TY Beanie Boos!
