St. Paul School Weekly News

April 24, 2026

Principal Message

Dear Families, As we move into the final week of April, it’s hard to believe how quickly this school year is flying by. With the arrival of warmer weather (hopefully soon!) and longer days, there’s a renewed sense of energy throughout our school community. Looking ahead, the next couple of months promise to be both busy and exciting. May and June are filled with meaningful learning opportunities, special events, and celebrations that highlight the growth and achievements of our students. From field trips and year-end activities to performances and school-wide gatherings, there is much to look forward to. This time of year also invites us to reflect on how far we’ve come while continuing to support students in finishing the year strong—academically, socially, and spiritually. Thank you to our staff, students, and families for the commitment and enthusiasm you bring each day. Wishing everyone a wonderful end to April and an exciting lead into the final months of the school year. Mrs. Carr-Jeschke & Mrs.McNamee

Updated 2026-2027 ECSD School Year Calendar

Edmonton Catholic Schools has updated the 2026–2027 Division school year calendar. While the total number of instructional and operational days remains the same, a few dates have changed. For most ECSD students, the first day of school will be Wednesday, September 2, 2026. There will be no classes for all ECSD students on Monday, October 19, 2026, as the province conducts a scheduled referendum and Elections Alberta has requested that schools not be in session that day. View and download the calendars at ecsd.net/calendar.

Support Staff Appreciation Week

Giving thanks to those who support our students, schools, and offices in their work and learning. From April 20-24, 2026, we celebrated Support Staff Appreciation Week and expressed our gratitude to the many staff members who support student learning and school operations across ECSD. This includes educational assistants, administrative and clerical staff, multidisciplinary team members, business managers, and other roles that support students and staff each day.  Our support staff are the vital ties that bind us together as a team. Through their daily work and service, they help us live our mission to provide a Catholic education that inspires students to learn, prepares them to live fully, and calls us to serve God in one another.  We could not support our school community without these dedicated individuals- we extend a HUGE THANK YOU to Ms. Anique, Ms. Dusica, Mrs. T., Ms. Fiorella, Ms. Danielle, Ms. Montana, Ms. Ummi, Ms. Toyad. Ms. Hina, Ms. Kirsten and Mrs. Lee for all they do everyday. We love you! Please join us is offering a heartfelt thank you for the many gifts and talents they share so generously. Their leadership, presence, and care make a profound difference in the lives of our students, families, and staff.

School Council Corner

Please see the following communication from your SAC Executive: At St. Paul, we are incredibly fortunate to have such a generous and engaged parent community. This week, Edmonton Catholic Schools recognizes Volunteer Appreciation Week from April 27 to May 1, 2026, and it feels especially meaningful at our school. St. Paul parents show up in so many ways, often quietly, to support students, staff, and school life. Whether it is volunteering on a field trip, helping with events, or stepping in whenever needed, your time and care make a real difference. The strong sense of community at St. Paul does not happen by accident. It is built by parents and caregivers who give generously and wholeheartedly. Thank you for all that you do!! April 30 is also Leadership Appreciation Day. As a parent community, we are grateful for the leadership of Mrs. Carr-Jeschke & Mrs. McNamee. Their commitment to student success, their support for staff, and their care for the whole school community are evident and appreciated. Looking ahead to May, the celebration continues with our very own Staff Appreciation Week. Please watch for a letter from the Staff Appreciation Committee with information about volunteer and donation opportunities. This is a special chance for our parent community to show appreciation for the staff who care for and support our children each day. Finally, please save the date for our next Parent Council meeting on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 6:30 PM. We would love to see you there!

Art Cards by Kids: Orders Open!

This past week, students came home with sample cards featuring their art work, along with instructions on how to order.

Orders are placed through the Art Cards by Kids website. The red code on the back of the card is what families can use to order cards. Orders close May 4th.

Staff Parking Lot

A reminder that the staff parking lot is not to be used for student pick ups or drop offs. There are staff vehicles, as well as Division vehicles coming in and out of the lot, making it very unsafe for students. Please choose safety or convenience and drop students off in designated drop off areas: 96 Ave in front of the school or 145 Street to the west of the school. Thank you for your support with this!

Enjoy Your Weekend!
