"The Junior Journal" aims to showcase and celebrate the exceptional events and achievements of the students learning at SJS, Naraina. The publication is released on a monthly basis, providing a comprehensive overview of the notable accomplishments, events and projects undertaken by the learners in a month, within our educational community. On August 2, 2024, our nursery and kindergarten students and on August 6, 2024, our class I little champions enjoyed a memorable visit to TingaLand, an indoor play area. The day was filled with joy and exploration as the children engaged in fun activities developed motor skills, and strengthened social bonds. They navigated through tunnels, climbed structures, and reveled in imaginative play zones.

On August 8, 2024, the students of Class III organized a special assembly to follow the rules and regulations. The school council led a special assembly along with the Third Graders, on "Rules and Regulations." The assembly successfully underscored the value of discipline in school life, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.

On August 3, 2024, our school held a Hindi Handwriting Competition for primary students. The event aimed to enhance students' interest in Hindi and improve their handwriting skills. The school buzzed with excitement as students, teachers, and parents celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day on August 14, 2024. The ceremony included flag hoisting, inspiring speeches, role-play on freedom fighters, and mesmerizing performances. The Chairman of SJS, Shri Michael Dias encouraged students to build confidence and be responsible citizens. The event concluded with heartfelt patriotic songs, leaving everyone inspired.
Discovering Hidden Stars: Talent Hunt

The school organized a thrilling Talent Hunt Event for students from Class I to III on August 16, 2024, and August 20, 2024, and for classes IV-V: Patriotic Solo Singing Competition, as part of the Friday activity for Independence Day celebrations. The Talent hunt saw two categories—dance and singing—the event uncovered hidden talents, showcasing the unique abilities of our young stars. Solo Singing witnessed children choosing and singing songs with patriotic fervour. Parents served as enthusiastic judges, evaluating performances based on creativity and enjoyment. Winners were awarded, and the event was a resounding success, leaving everyone inspired and eager for more.
Celebrating Bonds: Rakhi Special Assembly
"Rakhi is the thread that ties hearts together in love and protection."
On August 16, 2024, Class I students presented a vibrant Rakhi Assembly, blending tradition with eco-friendliness. Through a beautiful skit, they strengthened sibling bonds and promoted cultural heritage while also emphasizing the importance of tree plantation, known as Vriksha Bandhan. The assembly featured a heartfelt choir performance and a mesmerizing dance routine, with the highlight being the Vriksha Bandhan ceremony, where students tied rakhis to plants, symbolizing the bond between humans and nature.
To continue the celebration, on August 17, 2024, the KG students also hosted a heartwarming Rakhi Special Assembly filled with joy and learning. The event began with melodious Rakhi-themed songs, setting a festive tone. A beautifully decorated Rakhi thali was presented, and students explained its significance. Dressed in vibrant traditional attire, they shared stories about the bond of siblings. A short story further deepened their understanding of Rakhi's message of love and care, making the assembly unforgettable.

On August 16, 2024, Nursery students enthusiastically participated in a special Clay Moulding Competition, crafting beautiful Rakhis to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. Their creativity and fine motor skills shone as they molded the clay into vibrant Rakhi designs. The finished creations were displayed in trays, adding a festive touch to the competition. This hands-on activity nurtured their artistic abilities and brought immense joy as they proudly showcased their work.

Little Krishna’s Celebration: Janmashtami Special Assembly

On August 22, 2024, Class II students celebrated Janmashtami with a vibrant assembly. The event featured a captivating play on the life of Lord Krishna, highlighting key moments from his childhood and youth. Students also performed devotional songs and mesmerizing dance routines, bringing the spirit of Janmashtami to life. The assembly was a delightful blend of cultural expression and joyful celebration, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
To continue the celebration on August 23, 2024, the Nursery students celebrated Janmashtami with great enthusiasm. Dressed as Radha and Krishna, they brought festivity to the school. Their teacher narrated Lord Krishna's birth story through an engaging video, followed by singing bhajans, dancing, and reciting a rhyme. The children made crowns, decorated matkis, and swung the cradle of baby Krishna. A fun Dahi Handi activity added excitement to this memorable celebration.

On August 24, 2024, Salwan Junior School hosted another workshop for the parents of all classes, on Combating Cyber Crimes, led by Dr. Stuti Narula Markan, an expert on the topic and also a parent of the school. She highlighted online threats like phishing and identity theft while providing safety tips. This virtual workshop for parents proved to be beneficial as the participants learned about secure browsing, cautious sharing, and the importance of online vigilance in protecting themselves from cyber threats.

On August 30, 2024, students from Classes IV and V of Salwan Junior School, Naraina Vihar, visited the National Science Centre, Pragati Maidan, for an immersive learning experience. On August 30, 2024, Salwan Junior School hosted a General Knowledge quiz for Classes I to III. After a preliminary round a week before, the finalists from each class competed in a challenging quiz covering topics like famous personalities, inventions, landmarks, and languages. The winners received Certificates of Achievement, while all participants were awarded with Certificate of Participation. The enthusiastic audience also enjoyed winning surprise sweets and, making it a memorable and inspiring event for everyone.
