The Blast City Manager Dennis' Weekly Update | March 26, 2025

A new book, 'Lost Gas Stations of San Mateo County', joins 'Brisbane' as part of the Images of America collection, the latter of which was authored by Brisbane resident Dolores Gomez and Christy Thilmany. 'Lost Gas Stations of San Mateo County' features photos from the Brisbane Library's History Collection; author Bruce Cumming proudly delivered a copy to the City Hall Annex last Thursday, where a copy of 'Brisbane' also lives. Stop by if you'd like to thumb through either of them!

Weathered: A Show about the Science behind Natural Disasters

We recently came across a series PBS Terra put together that we found interesting and wanted to share with the community. See scientists and Native leaders share about what we can do to reduce the harm fires can cause through design, building materials, and listening to the land.

New 'I Want To...' Menu on the City's Website

We're getting a lot of great feedback from the City's Communications Survey as well as from the Council's Communications & Engagement Subcommittee. A solution to issues around search was recently implemented on the City's website, brisbaneca.org, in the form of an 'I Want To' menu, based on the items most often inquired about with staff. These are easy to edit, so expect them to change from time to time, depending on the needs and interests of the public.

One of the items, "See if I need a permit" is also a brand-new page on our site. Check it out!

The rollout coincided with California’s 2025 Tsunami Preparedness Week (March 22 – 30). The department created the local dashboard, using the same map data as the state after the state dashboard crashed following the Dec. 5, 2024, tsunami warning.
