Sri Lanka, Anuradhapura, Trincomalee 2005

Im Oktober 2005 sind wir ein zweites Mal nach Colombo geflogen und haben für 3 Tage im gleichen Hotel wie im Jahr 2000 (Ranweli Holiday Village, Negombo) einen Bungalow gebucht, um uns für die Reise nach Trincomalee zu organisieren. Wir sind nach Ankunft zur gleichen Travel Agency gefahren und haben dort, wie es der Zufall will den gleichen Fahrer getroffen, den wir im Jahr 2000 bereits gebucht hatten. Dieses Mal haben wir den Fahrer (Chandra) für die Tour nach Trincomalee via Anaradhapura inklusive Hotelübernachtungen gebucht. Das war eine sehr abenteuerliche Reise quer durch das Land an die andere Küste. Wir mussten einige Security Posten passieren und uns Kontrollen unterziehen wegen der politischen Lage im Land. Auch waren zu diesem Zeitpunkt wenige Touristen unterwegs da kurz zuvor (Dezember 2024) der Tsunami die Küste hart getroffen und vieles Zerstört hatte. Trotzdem war es eine gute Reise mit einem grossartigen Fahrer (Chandra) der uns ans Herz gewachsen ist. In October 2005, we flew to Colombo for the second time and booked a bungalow for three days at the same hotel as in 2000 (Ranweli Holiday Village, Negombo) to make arrangements for our trip to Trincomalee. Upon arrival, we drove to the same travel agency and, as luck would have it, met the same driver we had booked back in 2000. This time, we booked the driver for the tour to Trincomalee via Anuradhapura, including hotel accommodations. It was a very adventurous journey across the country to the other coast. We had to pass through several security checkpoints and undergo inspections due to the political situation in the country. There were also few tourists on the road at that time, as the tsunami had recently (December 2024) hit the coast hard and destroyed much of the area. Nevertheless, it was a good trip with a great driver (Chandra) who grew on us.
